How do you explain

I was amazed after I got a divorced how many of my married friends would ask me to order something for them on my credit card, have it shipped to my house, and they would pay me cash and pick it up when it came in, LOL.

I actually thought about running an ad for this service for a 10% charge. :D

Brilliant :D

you could make a company out of something like that.

This thread has made my night! Dwayne just always tells me "its for sheath patterning" . Makes it hard to tell him no. But since all of his knives are mine I really don't mind. I just had to teach him that he was not allowed to trade off knives without checking with me first ... he had to re-trade back into a few at the beginning ;)

In 2006 my wife said something about my knife purchases so I went out and bought a new FJ. She forgot about the knives and bitched about the car for a good while. Years have passed and she has not said word one about my knife purchases. Recently I went on a rampage and bought a lot of knives in a short period of time. About a month ago I had just gotten another new knife delivered. She started to look at my collection and give me some shit. My response, I went out and bought a brand new unlimited JK. It seems to do a damn good job of getting her mind off the knives. :D

I've heard that excuse! "If I had a ____________ I could make a kydex sheath for it. Do you know how many ppl ask for sheaths for those things?" :jerkit: lol

I just dont mention it until theyre already here. :D She never makes me return anything and I always put important stuff first before my knife buying habits..."never buy a knife with money you dont have". Thats what I say.

Ok, so its not that I want to be dishonest, but my wife just doesn't understand. She thinks "a knife is a knife" and I already have one, "what do I need another for?" I agree with a lot of people here, but the the best way to keep this relationship happy is to just lie about everything!:D What I try to do is hide it from her for a few days and say, "I had this thing forever". It doesn't usually work out that way, though, bc I am just too damned excited about it and have to tell her how awesome this one is and why. Oh well...I tried

My fiance could care less. I mean that, she could care less about the stuff I spend money on or the money I spend on it. She has no interest in it at all.

Simple.

The wife says, "How in the hell can your brain justify spending as much as you do on knives?"

To which I reply...

"How's a rainbow made? why's the sky blue? how does a posi-track rear end on a plymouth work?... It just does."

There's a "Joe Dirt" quote for just about every situation.

I feel your pain. The wife doesn't understand why I'm always on the prowl for shiny new kit. 300 bones for a knife or tactical vest carrier seems absurd to the little lady (how strange). I have come to the realization that I will do what I want to do and she will either deal with it or she won't.

OH GD, you just sooooo don't understand yet.:D

I just hide it all from her. Every jacket in my closet has really cool crap in the pockets.;)

Or I tell her I found it on the street but when I bent over to pick it up, $100 must have fallen off of my debit card....damndest thing.

Or I hide it in her closet and pretend to find it and I say "Oh my God, how did you know I wanted this knife?...... Wow, thanks so much, it's perfect!"
She just assumes that she bought it awhile ago and forgot about it.

Uh oh...I think she is a member of this board...edit edit edit. :D

You guys are hilarious! Hiding knives, saying you found them or won them, LOL! C'mon, women aren't THAT scary... or maybe I'm just young and optimistic :p

When my girlfriend gives me a hard time for spending so much money on knives, I just explain that it's a hobby, and like any hobby, it costs money - my money!

I've underlined the important part, chief among them "girlfriend"
