A very nice idea! 😃

Pretty bad picture of a pretty good system for me and my kind of knives.

These are some great suggestions, and look MUCH nicer than the cardboard box I just kind of have them all thrown into all willy-nilly. I need to get organized... Lol

I keep mine in this old parts cabinet I found at a flea market a while back. I lined the drawers with toolbox drawer liner (which came in a big roll; I used a cardboard template to cut it to size so the liner fits perfectly corner to corner in each drawer).

Here's the inside of one of the drawers (an old picture; this one is now exclusively a GEC drawer since I've added some to my collection).

This works pretty well for me. I can fit between maybe 8 and 14 traditionals in a drawer (depending on the size of the knives). A couple of the drawers have modern folders, which take up more space (usually 6 in a drawer). I've got 8 drawers most of the way full, so I still have 16 to grow into. A few of the bottom drawers are full of boxes and tubes, but those will probably move somewhere else eventually.

The next thing I'd like to add to this is some sort of tray (wood, or leather maybe) to sit on top of the cabinet where I can keep some daily users, the knives I carry most often, so they're readily accessible and I'm not taking them in and out of the drawers every day. Come to think of it, a cigar box might be just right for that.

I've been saying that I need to find a classier solution for several months now, but at the end of the day this does what I need and I haven't found an alternative that does it quite as well:

It's a little plastic chest of drawers from the grocery store. I lined each drawer with some self-stick felt from the craft store. It holds 12 knives nicely, but in a pinch can hold another 2 per drawer sideways in the back (or more if knives banging into each other was okay, I guess).

I use the top as a tray for the contents of my pockets (note to self: Where are my keys?), which is handy. I like being able to see my whole collection at once, and having every knife easily accessible.

When I head out in the morning, I look at my knives, see what feels right for the day, and I'm off.

My current EDC knives are kept in my pocket(s) 24/7. Those I'm not using, I keep in the box they came in (if they came in a box, if it came in a blister pack, I let it shack up with a similar knife in its box.) Lockbacks, I keep in their sheath.

I keep all my folders (moderns and traditionals) in my bedside table drawer. In fact, those are the only things I have in the drawer. I keep all my fixed blades in a plastic tote box inside my utility closet. Its not pretty or exciting, so no pics.

When I bought this case I never thought I would fill it so fast, wish I would have gotten the larger one.

I used to keep them all in the little tackle boxes, like 5K Qs, but I've recently changed it up a bit. Some are still in the tackle boxes, but I've moved some to a mason jar, to fit in a specific spot for easier access and stuff. Of course I generally have some laying around the dresser, and in other areas as well...

My ideas about storage are still evolving. Here is what I am using at the moment. The Plano six compartment boxes are ideally suited to standard size 3-3/8" barlows. I like the knife roll as it displays the knives a bit better. I have thought about making some sort of shadow box display but have not done so yet.

The top two boxes and the knife roll contain a little more than half of my Barlow collection. Bottom right has most of my Camillus knives and bottom left is mostly non-traditionals.

What are those GT?

I need something better than the old chest I have, a wardrobe...and a whole mess of knives lolling about on tables and desks it's getting out of hand. I want some order:D:D

Thanks, Will

I really like sack ups, they completely protect your knives so I keep my nicer stuff in there. Everything else is strewn around in various wood boxes, but I just got a small tackle box really cheap at an estate sale that will do nicely. My ideal storage is a nice wood machinists tool box, but they are pretty pricey so I havent got one yet.

That's cool and a traditional way to store them
