Hey....

It has been hard for me to not think about how everybody is doing......I know it has got to be brutal.....My memories of the late seventies winters in Cincinnati are still strong..........

I know the Moose is about to have a week of cold at work in PA but (who woulda guessed?) he is prepared and Bladite still has power and food.....The Trades are ALWAYS gonna be OK.......

I guess what I am trying to say is that I hope there is a pot of soup on your stove, light, heat and power in your house and that you all have your feet toward a cheery fire and have a wee tot of brandy or rum in hand........

Stay Warm, Stay Safe......

First real snow of the year is falling here in Knoxville, but it will likely be gone in a day or two. Nothing like what I grew up with in NorthCentral Wisconsin.

Hang in there, everybody.

Yellow springs, Ohio. Not to far from Cincinnati, but closer to Dayton. The thermometer outside the window is reading a balmy 3 degrees Fahrenheit. The thermostat is reading 68. I think I'll stay in today. The rest of the week I won't be so fortunate, but I'm geared properly. Hope all is well!

Also, I own a few models, but I love my 24. Thanks!

Hello Ethan! It is pretty cold here in Ohio, in the negatives and far colder with the wind chill. Me and my wife are surviving though. Plenty of fire wood to keep warm and hot food in the evening after work. I hope you're keeping warm where you're at!

Cold!

-30 with the wind chill right now, and about 16'' of snow. Everybody be safe out there.

Even though I've been a Floridian since '93, I grew up in NH so I know what "real cold" can feel like. Everybody be sure to be safe, stay warm, stay bundled up, and stay inside!

I am fortunate.....Gonna get cold-minus 2- tonight but the fire is already laid for when I get back from town......There is very little snow......About as bad as it gets in East Tennessee but it is a walk in the park on a balmy spring day compared to what a bunch of you are going thru..... Brrrrrrrrr......

Temps will be more "normal" tomorrow, with a projected high of 15°. -11° right now, wind chill at -32°. I was just looking outside, contemplating snow removal. Isn't it funny how the snow drifts always seem to accumulate on the driveways, and sidewalks? Shoveling is gonna be a bitch. I'm in no hurry to get out there, that's for sure. But hey, thank God for a house and a furnace. I cannot imagine the time the less fortunate are having.

Painfully cold here in Central Ohio, but the power is still on, the house is warm, and I have the dogs and the Mrs. here to suffer with me. We are staying in today, watching some movies, and just enjoying each others company....pretty blessed if you ask me. The worst part of it all is the fact that I have a brand new BK9 begging to be used, but I am not hard corps enough to venture out in this and break her in.

I, too, remember the Cincinnati Blizzard of 77/78, it was one of the highlights of my childhood having grown up in it. The Freezer Bowl, where the Bengals beat the Chargers with a -59 wind chill, was another highlight a few years later. :-)

These days I'm up in Northern New England. It's been a hell of a cold week, as cold as I've seen in Maine in the nearly 20 years I've been here. Woke up the other mornign to find that our water wasn't working. Turned out to be a frozen pipe, fixed pretty easily with a well-placed space heater and some time.

Today it's actually unseasonably warm, it will hit 48 for the high today. This means that a lot of the snow we have will start to melt and re-freeze tonight creating a sheet of ice.

Crazy winter so far, and we're only 2 weeks in....

-37 this morning and the woodfurnace has been using the same fire for well over month now. This is dry cold we get around here and despite the low values its is quite pleasant outside unless the wind is blowing. We have had weeks of brilliant sunshine and arctic cold conditions making for fine cross country skiing, all the bush trails are top notch. The lakes however have been very slushy with the constants snows.

I have family in southern Ontario and I have been down there during the winter a few times. When they get the winds blowing that damp air around with temperatures near the freezing mark, it feels much colder than -30s we get here, brutal infact. I'll take the arctic cold over damp mild cold.

I might have to bring a jacket to work this week, but I think I'll make it :D

Cold (-15 F and wind chill of -30). But we're OK. Wood furnace is roaring away and the gas furnace is set to come on 2 degrees behind it. (Yesterday we also ran the wood cook stove all day with a pot of ham and beams simmering on it.). So not so bad if we stay inside; but feel sorry for those who cannot.

Our best to you Ethan

We are getting a reprieve at the moment. +34 right now. Wind picking up and temps headed down.

6 of the last 8 days have been below zero, lowest of this last stretch was -21. But that's what you get when you live 9 miles from Canada in the mountains.

Pretty much business as usual here.

Hey boss, doing alright over here in St. Louis. Right now it's -7 with a windchill of -28 (how balmy eh?) with about 11 inches of snow. I'm currently tucked in all nice and tight with a nice big cup of coffee.

It is unseasonably warm in Korea. Plenty of snow in the ski areas up north, but nothing has stuck so far down here. In fact, snow is that only thing that makes Koreans drive with a modicum of caution, so I say a little dusting could do some good.

But as a native midwesterner, I hope everyone is doing fine back home. Maybe it is time for a Becker-designed shovel?

Cold here. Warm inside.

The plow hasn't been through so it looks like the way to work (and town) is drifted shut.

Bummer.:D

All of our snow, rain, and fog is going to flash-freeze tonight. It's 57F outside right now! so confusing. Prediction is 10 tonight, high of 14 tomorrow, low of 7. At least it will be 'warmer' than last week's storm. Got wood, stove, power through it so far. Stay warm out there, everyone!

A whopping 5 degrees here today. Suddenly I regret not installing that sub panel for 220v heat in the shop a couple months ago. Today should suck a fair bit.

Glad to hear everyone seems to be coping well.....Gonna sliiiide down the hill and hit town....will check in later....
