How is everybody?...

it's been brisk the past couple of days, but SWMBO is only huddled under 1 blanket now, so it must be warming up!
was -14 at 7, currently -2 and sunny. Most of the frost on our window frames has thawed, too.

Looks like it's around -15 here, as well. The furnace works well, and if for some reason it didn't, we have lots of friends and family we could crash with.

Interestingly enough, I do have soup on the stove. I am making "My Favorite Soup" from the wartime Joy of Cooking. The house smells great and the family gets a long weekend, of sorts, since I can work from home today.

Southern Ontario here. Nice ice covered snow everywhere. After the plows there was about an inch of solid ice on the roads that has just started to melt. I always love ramming the snow blower into the huge mountain that the plow builds at the end of the driveway.

I'll second the motion for the Becker designed shovel. I have a few ideas that would combine a nice thick blade that could chop its way through any ice/ snow combo!

Stay toasty gentlemen,

Tim

I think mother nature thought it'd be funny to swap the weather for us here in Maine. We went from a brisk -25 and snowy to 45 and raining like a mad bastard. Sucky thing is, it's all going to flash freeze tomorrow.

Was 54 driving in to work this morning in CT. 50 now. Was 5 last Friday night/Saturday morning. Weird...

Spent just over an hour taking buckets and buckets of water away from the house. It's been maybe 45 minutes and we're back to four inches of water pooled up.

Our lowest temp with wind chill is -55 today. I need some nice strong ale for this evening. Thanks for the concern, Uncle E. I hope everyone stays warm and safe.

We got about 11 inches or so of snow yesterday. Took my mom to work to help her shovel this morning and it was -10 out with windchill of -32. Still have power and heat so that is great. I know that part of our town has had power off for about 6 hours.

Woke up to a temp of -32°F.
Needless to say my outdoor activities have been placed on hold.
Luckily I got to do some snowmobiling on Friday, and Saturday while the temps were less life threatening.

I love the fact that you're checking in with everyone Ethan. Thats awesome :). I also hope everyone the best in weathering the storms.

Personally I'm struggling through winter here in the bay area of California. I know that sounds like a joke, but my favorite season is winter. I'm not sure why, but its been that way since I was a little kid living in Cincinnati (but have also lived in MI, NC, AZ, UT, and CO). But now I'm stuck here in perpetual fall (the trees are finally starting to drop leaves), and its super annoying (it was 70 yesterday, with a high of 65 today).

Just know I'd gladly trade some of my warmth over here for some of the cold you've got over there :D. I think what... a 30-40 degree swap could work?

We are doing well and it's not bad currently (in PA). They say we are supposed to really get smacked with some cold weather starting this evening and we will be looking at single digit degrees and negative wind chills. Really makes me happy I have goretex and thinsulate in most of my outdoor gear.

I have some back up portable heaters just in case our electric goes out (I use a heat pump) but let's hope it doesn't! Stay toasty folks. Thanks for the kind thoughts Mr. Becker.

I think the temp is around 38, but it feels closer to freezing with the wind chill factor. Rough times......not really. Hope you all are warm and toasty....wherever you are.

The kids are back in school today so the Holidays are officially over. Bummer.

Well, it will be 77 degrees here in my area today. (North Hollywood, CA)....I wish I could send this back to my friends back east. I actually have shorts and flip flops on, as I got this week off. My dog is out back sleeping in the shade.

It is pretty cold here, but it isn't a force to be reckoned with like all you guys are getting... 31 degrees, but clear and dry. I am wearing shorts and a short sleeved shirt, lol. I do have a coat in the truck, but it isn't really needed. If we did get any, and I mean any amount of ice on the road, the city would be shut down for a week! The weather guy says we are due for rain, but the cold will leave before the water gets here.. Supposed to be in the 70's by the end of the week..

Seacoast NH, crazy weather all through New England - 49° here and raining, saltwater tidal pond still has big chunks & bergs of ice. Temp is supposed to drop like a stone and freeze all this rain and melted snow into a giant skating rink. Still have heat and power....hope it stays that way. Don't have a lot of contingency plans here. Probably should have a generator to keep the (gas) heat on, but I'm too cheap and we haven't ever (knock wood) lost power here for more than a day. One of the nice things about living in a small urban area. Enough people so that it makes sense to get the power back on, not so many that it's very city-like. Hope you were able to get back UP the mountain, E.

Here in Croatia ,Spring weather. 16 degrees celsius (about 60 fahrenheit)
So unusual for our country.

Other than that, work, work, work,no time to spend in nature, but I hope it wil be better as time goes by.

16 degrees here at the moment and that is pretty cold for East TN. Supposed to be colder tomorrow morning. This pretty much shuts down my outdoor work efforts for a day or two. But that's okay, I need time to do office stuff anyway. As long as the power stays on, I'm good. Hope everyone is warm and comfortable.

Not as cold has it has been earlier this year BUT, in my part of Michigan we get Lake Effect snow (cold air is warmed by lake Michigan and dumps snow at the shore and eastward) and there is a lot of it. About 18 inches in the past 24 hours. Work was fun today as I got to see just how diesel reacts at 0 degrees. So much for staying warm.
tuesdsay is forecasted to be colder with the same amount of snowfall as today. Yee Ha....Breaking out the Carhartt Arctic stuff, company policy be damned.

Everyone be well, be smart, and stay warm.

Both vehicles fired right up, even at -15f outside. That's a good day, since we have to park on the street. Stay safe out there, everyone.
