How is this even possible

There is some interesingness that happens with the postal reciprocity treaties, and how China takes advantage of them. I suspect that might be why Australia has added back the low value import sales tax, even though on the face of it, it makes no sense. I also recall hearing that Canada post was having trouble financing delivery of cheap packages, due to the huge volume.

Other factors could include that the seller is intentionally taking a loss for some reason, or that they were bought as a lot batch and thus the seller has only a small investment to recoup. Its possible that the costs of production were very low, to the point of being materials only, possibly. My suspicion is that someone is getting ripped off here, not just they buyer, but very likely at the other end as well.

Deal or No Deal?; that's the question. The price certainly doesn't encourage me to reach for plastic.

Stuff has been taking about 30 days from Australia for me.

Crap I didnt think about that believe me this isent a deal... it's a way to lose a finger or stab yourself in the leg or stomach

How are you more likely to lose a finger or stab yourself with a crappy fixed blade knife than a good one?

I've seen vids of people with stupidly dangerous technique whacking away on branches with quality knives, and it was a miracle they didn't lop off a hand.

When a company in China gets a manufacturing contract with a major reseller like "XXX Cutlery" to manufacture 20,000 cheap hunting knives at say $4 USD each, they set up equipment, suppliers, and tool up for the manufacturing run.
When they fulfill the contracted numbers, they don't stop...they keep cranking them out, and selling them cheap.

I dont know why your trying so hard to argue with me on this thread, looking back at all of it is kinda funny. but to be honest I wont take all the bait. Have a great day.

You asked "How is this possible?" People answered.

And it is not true that you are more likely to stab yourself in the stomach with a cheap blade.

Not arguing...informing. Its what happens here.

Was this all an "ironic" how is this possible?

"Metaphorically"? Maybe the "stab yourself in the stomach" was similar. Like "This blade is so bad I'm going to stab myself in the stomach with it!"

:D

Somebody asks a question, we endeavor to answer it.

Impaleing oneself in the leg or stomach over a $2 knife is some crazy buyers remorse for sure.

Factory workers in China often make about as much in a month as some people other places make in a day. That's exactly how cheap goods come directly from China.

I recently bought a titanium spork on ebay from a Chinese seller. $1.64 shipped.
It also took a month to get in my mail box. Coming by container ship for sure.

And most people in America (thank God) make more in a day than many people in countries other than China make in a month. I'm not saying that the Chinese worker isn't exploited, I don't know the details of their standard of living, e.g. outer countryside vs Hong Kong. I do know that they will be allowed to starve if they cannot make ANY money. :( THAT is worse than exploited IMO.

That free postal shipping from China is just not right. Like when an item such as a small electronic device sells for maybe $2. I would like to know how much is subsidized and what our postal service gets to handle the package domestically.

And feeding their families. Every country (by far) does not provide for those who have nothing; those people DIE! :(

Most of those workers don't make enough to feed themselves. They work long hours and live off the government teat, as slaves to the machine.
Most travel into industrial areas to work and only get to see their families a couple times a year.
That's why production halts in the whole country for a month during Chinese new year. The workers all go home for a visit.

An average Chinese factory worker will make less than $200 USD a month.
A sales account rep makes about $800 a month with bonuses.
Workers live in small one room apartments about the size of a closet and pay for the privilege while they work in the city. US prison cells are bigger.
The Government controls all industry, and has their fingers in everything.
Those workers will never escape their lives.
Exploited doesn't even begin to describe their situation.

Doesn't have to make a huge profit, here's the deal:

1- Buy a bunch of stuff with cash of sketchy provenance.
2- Sell it at a price that moves fast
3- You get where I'm going with this, right? wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
