How large is your collection?

Hundreds, I really need to take an inventory. I collect productions and customs, ALOT of hunters and bowies. A few I have overlapping. I also make my own(dont know if I should count them) and my uncle makes them and has given me many. I have been buying them since I was a kid. I am limiting buying now to productions that I REALLY want and customs on order. For folders I am all over the place but got on a real big titanium frame lock kick for a while and bought alot of sebbies and the like. Great stuff.

I have maybe 10 Spydies, a dozen or so fixed blades in the Ranger/BK-9 genre, and maybe 40 entry level knives like Case sodbusters, Buck 110s, Leeks etc. Probably a dozen SAKs and a dozen multitools. A couple of nice GL Drew fixed blades. No spendy customs, though thats where I'm headed. I liked that KR Johnson black sodbuster that just sold.

And a healthy arsenal of lights. :)

Rather meager collection right at the moment..but true to the name its definitely gonna be expanding

-Kershaw Leek
-CRKT M21
-Spyderco Waved Delica 4
-Spyderco Sage
-Spyderco Spyderfly w/ Ti-coat
-Ka-Bar Kukri
-Cold Steel Sure Flight Thrower (Love these throwers)
-Cold Steel Pro Flight Thrower (These bigger ones are even better..too bad my supplier doesn't carry them anymore)

and a few other random no name ones

This is a great subject. Basically, I just like knives. My collection is pretty much what you'd find in your top drawer or grandpa's desk. I have a bunch of new crap, but a CRKT M-16 just doesn't compare to an Uncle Henry stockman or a Camillus congress.

You guys that don't know the answer to the question might consider starting some sort of record book or catalog system. Minimally where/when you bought each knife with a photo and value. Not only will it be valuable in case of an insurance claim, but your descendants will want to know which knives are family heirlooms and which ones are from last week's flea market. :)

i have only about 20 or so most of them are knives that i bought when they went on clearance at work, most recent was the Gerber Prodigy. most of them are folders but i have my fair share of fixed ones.

I am not quite sure of the number, I best do a count, around 100 I would say. I have 11 Busses, 2 swamp rats, 5 Bark Rivers, 2 Chris Reeve, 1 Falkniven 2 fehrmans, 1 Tops, 2 Puma, 3 Buck, 4SAK's, 1 Cold steel, 1 Benchmade, 3 Schrade, with the rest bing older knives, easternknives and a few sords and bayonets.

Since I also have probably more than 300 knives, I guess I should get rid of some before people think I'm getting out of control.

Since this photo was taken, I have added another 30 to 40 to the display. Getting kinda crowded. Guess I should give some more away.

I'd be more than happy to take some off your hands:thumbup::D

I have probably 20-30 knives, knives that interest me are usually good solid (mostly traditional) working knives. The Ka-Bar is about as tactical/military as I get :D

That's a good idea and I kind of made my own form. Right now, it just has my firearms...nice little Excel spread sheet that I've imbedded photo's in to include accessories and estimated prices. I'll start doing the same with my high-end knives pretty soon.

How large is my collection? Well, if we're talking navel lint, it's immense... rivals my wife's dryer lint collection. Now, knives... I have a few - probably too many for my 'uses' - but I like them. I need to say goodbye to some... but if I won't have them, who would?

Yeah, a new name for my collection - 'Stainz's Wayward Knife Rescue Emporium and Respite'...

The worst thing about 'collecting' is transference. Why, for what I spent on Bark River knives (I now have six!) in the last six months, I could have bought that new S&W PC-shop revolver I wanted... or taken my bride to the Coast for a vacation - last year. Keeping things in current perspective, I might be able to afford a full gas tank in my Jeep next week!

The spreadsheet says 50 members in the family now with the FG CPMD2 Para-Millie that arrived Wednesday. I stick to medium-to-high end production folders. Don't have any interest in customs or even seriously expensive handmade knives. Strider and CRK are about as high as I'm willing to go. I limit my acquisitions to knives that I will carry and use, so that means a 2.75" - 4" blade length with VG10, 154CM, S30V, BG42, or D2 blade steel. No slippies, no multi-blade knives, all PE blades.

Half of the current 50 are Spydercos, six are Sebenzas, two are Striders, and the rest are scattered among Al Mar, Benchmade, Buck, Cold Steel, Gerber, and Sog. All get carried when new so we can bond, even if they won't ever make my regular EDC rotation.

Bob W made a good point about pix and records. I am in the process of rebuilding the "mug shots" of my knives. All the pix I had went south in a HD crash last October along with my original knife database. I decided to do a spreadsheet this time and just got that finished a couple of months ago. I'm still adding pix.

I think the most I had hovered around 30 at one time, but I'm now down to a dozen. Until something comes along that really strikes me, I'll probably stay around this number. Of this dozen, about half are used regularly.

Small, very small!:D Recently I've had to sale off some of my knives to generate some cash for a "situation" that has just arisen:(:grumpy:. What I have been left with though, are all edc's. I got away from getting knives for the sake of getting knives about a year or so ago. I concentrated on just knives I would edc and have tried to go for quality over quanity. I have also been finding myself going for doubles on certain knives, and those were the ones I sold. Now I have a crop of only 10 knives, but 10 very good knives! They are;

-Kershaw Tyrade
-Strider AR
-Strider AR Ghost
-BM Rukus 610
-BM Rukus 610BK
-ZT0200
-ZT0500
-Boker Wharcom
The last two are ordered but have not arrived yet
-Case Barlow
-Case Razor

Doing this from memory as I'm not at home at the moment, and I think that is all.
