How large is your collection?

Sometimes I tell myself that I need to set up some knife collecting software so I can keep track of what I have, what they cost, who made them, etc. Just haven't gotten around to it yet.
A Word list with scanned images burned to a CD would be fine. No reason for special software.

What works the best for me, custom catalog books. No worries if the computer crashes, and I keep then safely stored separately from the knives. Print out a blank form, take it to Kinkos, and have them print and bind into 50 page books. Create the blank page however you wish, with plenty of room on the back for a photo.

Even a spiral notebook with chicken-scratch is better than nothing.

I have some where around one hundred. Some custom, numbered production pieces, users and junk.

i'm suprised there arent more pics in this thread. Heres most of my fixed blades. I've got about 30 in the pic, but i also have a couple in my truck, a couple in my tool box at work, a couple in the kitchen, and i think one or two in the bathroom? Mostly i buy middle of the line users. The only ones i havent used are ones i havent found uses for. You'll probably see some of these up for sale or trade soon.

fixedblades005.jpg

also i have 50 or so folders.

I recognize a few from your photo, or think I do. The AG Russell/CRKT Sting. Schrade Old Timer Sharpfinger. Spanish bayonet near the top left. Some sort of Scandinavian knife - Marttiini? Camillus Pilot Survival Knife. Far left, Texas Toothpick Bowie, perhaps from Atlanta Cutlery. One or two from Ontario perhaps, but I don't know the model names. Small paring knife, from Victorinox?

------------------------
I used to do group photos like that every year, one for fixed blades and one for folders. Set up the ladder, tack up a tarp for the backdrop, open all of the boxes... It got to be a huge hassle and took all day. Probably won't do it again...

These were the last ones, in '06. Note the junkers/gift knives in the top left of each photo. :(

Did a separate photo for bayonets, but it didn't come out.

Spot on Bob. Its funny, i've spent close to a thousand dollars on fixed blades in the last couple of years, and My favorite is still an old Fury Tanto with a paracord wrap and a nylon sheath i bought for maybe 12 bucks from Cheaper Than Dirt about 5 years ago Its the one on the top on the right.

P.S. Is that a stanly bevel square in the upper right hand corner of your first pic? Also i like those beckers in your second pic, i wish i would have bought one when they were still priced reasonably.

Similar, but not a Stanley. It's an odd tool in the collection because it's a Tradesman brand square, from Imperial-Schrade.

I bought those two just as Camillus was going out of business. By that time the Becker models were already in short supply and pickings were slim.

Talk about "reasonably" priced, see the Camillus CUDA fixed blade just below the Beckers? That was a $30 closeout from Sportsmans Guide. :D

Have about 65-70 both factory and custom. Just love those sharp pointy things. My wife thinks I'm nuts ( she is probably right) but it keeps me happy and out of her hair. Just got 4 more this past month. Picture is of a custom by Michael Veit. I hade scrimshaw work done by Lee Thomas.

Some of the Shrade Old Timer folding hunters had lanyard holes, and most had sheaths. When on the bike, I carry an AG Russell Hunters Scalpel tied to my belt. They've been discontinued, but a new version is coming out soon. A lot of the Harley riders I see have small fixed blades in sheaths - many appear to be customs.

Thank you. Like I said, that photo is from '06, about a hundred knives ago. ;)
The Rolox says, "Benchmade by Gerber" and it's from 1990. Here's a better pic of it:

pkdmslf, Very impressive collection:thumbup:

You sure do like your Natives huh:) Do you have everyone ever made?

My "collection" is more of an accumulation than anything else. Sounds alot like bob w's collection mentioned above.

I go in streaks.

Several variants of Grips and Mini-Grips----Endura and Delica.

Pretty much every variant of the BM Presidio line.

Vic alox--pretty much have all the models and colors.

Case CV Trappers.

Buck fixed blades.

Buck 110's---some custom shop offerings.

4 or 5 Bark Rivers

Couple yellow box Puma's.

A wide assortment of junk and or beater knives than I've bought over the years---there's always some sort of knife close at hand in the house.

My accumulation might not have much value----but there's a bunch in sheer numbers.

i guess i am more a bench guy !:D
i have nearly 50 knives now probably, i tend to buy custom now but i still like my good-old benchs...
