How long did you wait for your K5 Tomahawk?

I ordered my spike from them in feb, so that makes it about two months for me. I have spoken to eddie a couple of times and let him know i'm in no rush. He is really nice. He will return your calls or emails asap. If you need yours in a rush im sure he will work with you. As for me I'm in no hurry. I just put in my order for the hammer poll. I am expecting that one before the spike, but either way I've heard they are worth the wait.

I ordered one back in January, thought I would have it in two weeks but it has never arrived. I have pretty much forgotten about it.

I ordered mine the day after the introductory pricing expired, but at $160 shipped it was still a bargain. I got it in something like 5 days. It sounds from this that he made a batch, then ran out...?

Eddy's been good about returning my emails within hours if not a day, so you should get an answer quickly.

K5 EK had some problems with production at the end of 2005/early 2006. One of his suppliers/machining sources apparently shorted him on metal quality. This has set him way back on delivery given the high demand. Call him. He responds very promptly and can give you a time frame. I am still awaiting mine too.

I would echoe the following sentiments:

Give Eddie a call. He is a good guy and will help you out ASAP.

Hey!

I do go out of my way to keep everyone in the loop about thier orders. If I miss you I am sorry. Shoot me an email and I will respond. I am running a week or so behind on emails (after dads surgery and having to run the family business plus K5 until he gets back up and running plus my wife and I are moving from California to Durango Colorado next week.)

I am also between suppliers for sheaths. Some are Sheathmechanic and some will be by Survival Sheath Systems. Due to the change-over, I have been delayed again. Robert at Survival Sheath Systems is doing his best to get me sheaths as fast as he can, and I will be shipping accordingly. Feel free to email or call me to get the scoop on your specific orders.

I do know this to be fact since I also do work with Survival Sheath. Everyone is rushing around to make sure that Eddie's customers get K5's best quality. It's always worth the wait!

Good to know. I certainly don't want to be treated special - and would never ask that my order be bumped ahead of someone elses. I do suggest that posting a message on this forum and certainly on the k5 site would be a good idea. While I am not in need of my tomahawk for being in a war zone, I am under the gun as far as a dead line goes and need to evaluate the product.

Hope everything goes smoothly for k5 in the future.

Hey Eddie

Eddie's ran into multiple complications. Happens to us all upon occasion, certainly to me :o . Unlike some makers/suppliers however, that have kept people in the dark, and ducked repeated inquiries, Eddie does his best to keep you informed, and work with you as much as possible. He has had, and will have, my appreciation and support, for striving to make available, a quality and affordable tool, for those of us that need both attributes in one tomahawk (or in my case, a couple :D ).

Keith

Hey Eddie,

There are a bunch of us aussies in a knife club (aussie based) over at http://xr650rules.proboards59.com/index.cgi . Our founder, Jason, has been trying to contact you because some of the guys wanted K5s. They are now going with the Nemsis LMAX because we haven't been able to get hawks from you. If you want to drop a message in that forum before the order is placed (about 1 week away I think) then that would be good.

cheers

Keep up the good work Eddie.

And don't forget about your eager market down under when you get some spare K5's. Same place as Irezumi above.

Cheers

I appreciate the fact that Eddie has a great product at a low price, but I'm getting tired of waiting. I ordered a month before I needed the hawk and was told its in stock. I'm trying to be patient, but today I called his number and got a disconnected message. When I left a message to place an order, he called me back the same day. When I leave messages asking for an updated shipping date, I don't get a call back at all.

I have been in contact with eddie a few times in regards to my order. I have never had a problem with him returning my messages. Have you tried to email him off the k5 wed site. I found that is the easiest way. He usually returns my email the same day but no longer that two days later. Last time I got an email from him (about a week ago) he said that he was just waiting on the sheaths and orders will ship. But I can feel your pain. except I don't need mine right away. I have too many hawks already. Try email. I'm sure some how he just didn't recieve your message.

Besides just coming off of a family emergency, I believe Eddie and Nicol are in the process of moving from CA to CO. There may very well be a temporary communications gap. I just spoke to him on the phone last week, and as FL says, Eddie was just awaiting sheaths. A bunch of near simultaneous occurences have set him back some, but he's fighting his way through them to get us our hawks. I have faith that once he's settled in CO, the whole process will smooth itself out once again.

I have been waiting weeks also. Sucks. The only good thing is that he has not charged my CC. I hate it with a passion when companies do that and don't send the product. Makes me not do business with them in the future. There is no excuse for that.

I sent him an e-mail yesterday regarding an updated shipping date. I'll post again after I hear from him. I wish him well in his move, but I wish he would have said something when I ordered. If he had, I would have reconsidered my order. I could have ordered an ATC and received it almost immediately.

I ordered mine last November. I am sure Ed is a very nice guy. WHen I was first dealing with him he would answser e-mails in almost real time. Over the past two weeks I have called him four times and e-mailed at least a dozen. I have not heard anything.
I appreciate dealing with his father's surgery. I appreciate moving to Durango. That is where I plan to retire, so I will probably run in to him there some day. I appreciate his trials with his providers trying to get him the material to send out orders. I understand a small business. What I do not understand, appreciate, or tolerate, is total silence and being ignored.
A simple generic e-mail saying "I moved, dad's in the hospital, the sheaths suck, my suppliers are weak, and I am trying" is all it would take to get most of us off his back.

eddie/ K5 emailed me a few days ago and advised that he would be shipping the hawks out soon....he has experienced lots of setbacks lately...so lets cut him a break....(family always comes first)....the hawk he is selling is half the price of anything comparable....I tried for two years for my first RMJ Talon "it will be sent tommorrow, be ready next week, accidentily sold it to someone else,.....blah blah blah...) hundreds of calls, talk about frustrating
K5 got overwhelmed because he is selling a great product at a low price...Im sure he could triple the cost and hire some help...
hope everyone gets their orders soon.....remember the cost

I agree. Continually announcing thing's are F'd up, is not as good a solution as putting 100% effort into stabilizing the business, and getting the hawks out. I don't think there was anyway Eddie, or anyone else for that matter, could have predicted the chain of events leading to the delay, except maybe Murphy or his law. 'Best effort' is all I ask from anyone. I wrote Eddie and offered to be 'bumped' even though I had already paid, and he contacted me immediately, to fill me in and assure me it wasn't necessary. I figure it's better to offer a helping hand up, than to kick a man when he's down.
