How long did you wait for your K5 Tomahawk?

The way I read the website when I ordered my K5 was that $149.95 was a SALE price. I naturally assumed that it was originally a higher price and the $149.95 was a discounted price. BTW, ordered my K5 Tactical Hammer Poll on June 14. Still waiting patiently, Eddie.

NFA,

The price in the magazine was correct when the article was written in December '05, and even when it was published and released in February. I warned customers via the website for well over a month of the rise in price that was, and did, take place on June 20.

Many of you may not be in the manufacturing side of things, but to make things in the USA is VERY expensive, and only getting worse. Steel is very difficult and expensive to acquire, and labor costs are on the rise. I hated to have to raise the price, but my rising manufacturing costs demanded it.

I make a great quality product completely here in the States, and we use American made machines to do it. I could easily go overseas, and be able to lower the price significantly. But that goes against everything I believe in. And I WILL NOT DO THAT!

I did not attend Blade, so I could keep costs down. I still do a lot of the work, so I do not have to pay employees. My wife does all the financials, and we work out a spare bedroom and my garage.

I am sorry if the new price has made purchase difficult for anyone. But to keep providing a great product, it had to be done.

Still more than worth the price, and substantially less then others are paying for a comparable tool. I feel for ya, my wife and I operate our part time business the same way, and we can't do without both working fulltime jobs too. One thing goes wrong and the avalanche gets started... Keep'em coming Eddie.

still waiting on mine but I agree that the price is fair....compare anything else out there....plus Eddie is usually availible when you ask a question....try to call Rmj or some of the other ones and you'll understand....there are cheaper ones ones out there but you get what you pay for...

First wave of sheaths arrived today. I have started shipping hawks again. :)

Thanks for keeping us informed about the orders. I can't wait to eval mine and get a responce out.

As for the price increase. 200 is a very resonable price for a hawk of this make. luckly I jumped on the 149 offer and purchaced a hammer and spike. I mostly collect knives and I watch the prices go up every year. So when you see an introductory price/sell you have to jump on it. Even though the 149 was not the intro price, I was still shocked at the price and the awsome reviews it got. I believe if alittle research is done into quality hawks you will see the k5 is a steal.

Eddie,

I'm thinking about pre-ordering one of your rescue hawks. Two questions:

1) When will you charge my credit card? (Now or when they ship.)

2) When do you anticipate them to be ready for delivery?

Thanks,

Greg

I will charge when thay are ready to ship.

As for an ETA:
My handle scale maker is activly working on what we believe will be the final prototype. So, I am hoping to have it for approval next week.

My leather sheath maker(Armoralleather) is doing a GREAT job of creating THE perfect sheath. I am very happy with the pics of the design, and believe we will be able to start production, with only one proto.

The Rescue is a priority for me, and I am doing my best to get them completed.

My two hammer poll hawks arrived today. The color is an icky desert tan, :barf: but the construction is great. They are really beefy and seem like they can take a lot of abuse. These two will be used for camping (one for me, one for my dad) and general chopping around the house. I would advise getting them sharpened before you use them. The edges are fairly well-shaped and better than some other hawks I've bought, but I'd want a slightly sharper edge on them if I plan to do a lot of cutting.

My thumbnail review is that if you're looking for something pretty, spend a few hundred more and get something else. If you're looking for a top-notch tool, these hawks seem like a great buy. Even with the $50 price increase, I'd still recommend them to others.

My hammer poll came in a few days ago. Nice tool for the money. Didn't charge my card till it was shipped.

My hammer poll arrived this morning. I used it to rip a huge hole in the wall (plaster and lathe) of our 100+ year old building with no damage whatsoever to my hawk. Lots of damage to the wall. Luckily, we were planning on putting a door there... otherwise, the wife would kill me. Great job, Eddie! This tool was well worth a month and a half wait. What a brute!

I don't know what to say... Mom always did like me best  Hope you get yours soon.

I got my hammer poll today also:D . although I wasn't able to bust any holes in my walls. I really like the feel and weight of it. I'm a bigger guy and think the weight fits me perfectly. This thing looks unbreakable. Now I can go camping and try this out. I'm sure if it will break down walls it will work just fine as a camp axe.

knuckleduster,
have you contacted eddie at k5. He is very good at getting back to his costomers. Are you waiting on a hammer poll or a spike. I am also waiting on a spike since the end of feb, but eddie has kept me posted on the progress of my order. The hammer poll I waited only about 2 months. from the looks of the hammer poll I know the spike will be well worth the wait.
good luck on your order.

forrest.

I have made contact many times. I had paid through paypal. When it became clear I would continue to wait, I bought a spike hawk from another BF member and changed my order to a poll hawk thinking that it might shorten the process. No such luck. I need the hawks for a book I am writing. I needed them months ago. Guess how I feel about the service, especially when I am trying to give the company and the product some exposure.

Don't feel alone. I am experiencing the same dilema with Bear Mountain. No returned calls. No returned emails. Do not know when my order will ship. Medical emergency. Legal proceeding mumbo jumbo. Was able to speak to Suzanne last week and was offered a "loaner". I want what I paid for two months ago!

Out of your GARAGE?!? Though I missed being able to see you at Blade, I have had the opportunity to see one of the tactical hawkks in person and was very impressed. Even more so when I realized this is out of a garage space!

Very, very nice work!

I ordered my spike hawk from Eddie in March. I have called him a number of times and each time I was told that I would recieve my hawk in about 10 days. I am going on 7 months waiting for it. What gives?
