How long did you wait for your K5 Tomahawk?

I picked mine up 2nd hand in absolute mint condition. You just have be patient and shop in the right places at the right times. So hold tight and wait, this piece is definetely worth it.

Hello!! I'm back!

Now that I am in Durango(Gary, you better move here!!) I am back up on daily comms and net surfing. My phone call qty. has slowed down since I am no longer running the other family business. :) I am now able to answer the phone much more often. I had been on it so much, I had to let many calls go to voicemail.

I am sorry I dropped the communication ball these past few weeks.

Hey Eddie,

Glad to see you're getting settled in. I know that Rob is busting balls to get the sheaths done for you. Hang in there, help is on the way! :D

My credit card was billed May 7th. Still no Hawk.:(

Just got back from a month on the North slope, so I haven't been really great about maintaining contact myself.

I'm sure I'll get to the bottom of the situation quickly, and I know that Eddie's a good guy.

Ha! I knew it! I don't think an hour even passed before Eddie was on top of the matter!

(Turns out that I really have been out of the loop while up on the slope!)

Thanks Eddie!

For those wondering about the wait period, I waited since December last year. That is because I had some special requests and EK ran into significant supplier problems at that time. I am happy EK caught the metal problem early back at the end of last year/beginning of this year. I just received my special order spike hawk a some weeks back. I am happy with it. I believe it was worth the wait. I will be sending my hawk for ceramic/ceragard coating shortly.

I have waited longer for my hawk than anybody who posted to this thread, and, I've already paid for it. However, like LSkylizard's, it is a special order hawk. Eddie has kept me apprised of the situation and given me choices on how to proceed along the way. I feel it is worth my while to wait until it is available exactly as I wanted it, and have faith that will happen soon.

Thanks to a BF contirbutor, I have a K5 spike on the way, should be here next week. Great to deal with and a great price.

The book I am working on is coming along nicley, but it is always more work than I expected. Thankfully the subjects are great to play with.

I ordered a K5 spike yesterday!
I asked Eddie Killian how long they are presently backordered and I was told about two weeks for the hammer poll and about four weeks for the spike!
Only about 39,000 minutes to go!;)

Got the k5 spike a BF member sold me (thanks Bill!). I like it! Heavy, combat ready and looks great. Took one week from payment to my door. Outstanding!

I am considering changing the one I ordered to a poll hawk.

I read the May 2006 issue of Tactical Knives featuring the K5 Tactical. The
MSRP quoted in the article is $149.95 which I verified at the time with the K5 website. Now post-Blade Show the MSRP is $199.95. I'm sure that it is a nice enough product, but at $199.95 a 33% increase within a month? For a glorified hatchet?

I don't own a tomahawk, although I have been looking for one that is well made, practical and reasonably priced. Tomahawks either look cheap (American Tomahawk) or elaborately impractical with an elaborate price (custom and semi-custom makers). K5, or so I thought until now, found a market niche for buyers like me.

Appears to me that the TK cover story was premature. Get the knife community excited about a product when the reality is whoops, wrong price.

It was only a matter of time bfeore the price went up. The amount of materials and workmanship that goes into the k5 tomahawks is impressive. I have looked into manufacturing costs for a similar model and it was above $150 when you factored in good steel, laser or water cutting, grinding edges, powder coating, cutting and machining and buying aluminum for scales and then a superior sheath. $200 is still very reasonable - and believe me I have been waiting to recieve mine a long time and I would still buy one. In fact I bought one recently from a BF member so I will have two, hopefully soon. Realisticly k5 could have started out at $199 and not lost many sales and made more money. Show me any piece of cutlery with that much design, good materials etc for under $200 and I would be amazed.

As for ATC looking "cheap" I have to disagree. I just bought a second VTAC, they are light, incredibly durable and truly an amazing design. Mine is going in my pack and staing there. The materials are good and the construction even better.

Just curious. It's been a long time for me.
I ordered a K5 Spike Tomahawk March 17th. After over three months, I cancelled my order. Eddie Killian did return my money, but never really gave a good explanation on why it took so long, or when I could expect delivery. Maybe he got swamped with orders after the article in Tactical Knives Magazine.

I ordered mine Feb. 8th. Unfortunately I cannot cancel my order as I need it for a book I am writing.

I did get swamped with orders after the magazine article that I was not aware was being released until it hit the shelves. Sorry for all the delays, but I am a very small company that is experiencing some vendor supply issues. Those issues have been resolved, and my vendors are working frantically to get me product. I will be caught up, and ahead of the game soon.

Mark,
I am sorry for the lack of communication. I have been very vocal, both here and on other forums about my delays, and why. I hope, that after I get caught up, and have some backstock, you will try again.

Eddie:

How about commenting on the price differential of $149.95 for the K5 as featured in the May 2006 Tactical Knives article, and the $199.95 listed on your website.
