How long is long enough for you?

I think 3 to 3.5 inches is my sweet spot just as long as it rides good in the pocket.

I agree with whetrock on this. All my folders are between 3" to 3 5/8". Just seems to be the right size range for me. Anything bigger and I prefer fixed anything smaller just ain't big enough :D

Over the years, I've downsized a few times, toward smaller knives. They leave room in the pockets for other edc stuff. At this time my two that are always on me is my Vic classic on my keyring, and the Case peanut in my pocket. A 2 inch blade seems enough to do whatever I need to do in modern suburban America.

I don't like a folding knife's handle to be under 3", I prefer larger, but I can make do...I don't mind if the blade is smaller, but I like at least 3" to hold while cutting.

Between 3-4", more emphasis on the 3.5-4" realm though. I like a substantial sized blade. I'd say the ZT0200 is the largest folder I own, but my BM Rift seems to be my preferred folder at the moment with a blade length of 3.67". And always always ALWAYS plain edge.

3in is fine
3.5in is my limit

I use a folder for every tasks and fine stuff, so if I need something bigger I get a fixed blade.

3" is my minimum but I prefer 4.5".

3.5 - 4 inches is my ideal range for my daily use. I do a lot of food prep with my folders so a little length is nice.

3-4 inches but not longer than 4 then i cannot find a use for it then i cant get it out in public without people staring and it drawing every ones attention

For real world utilitarian practicality 3.75 - 4. Although I tend to like larger folders.

I usually have Traditional knives and they are viewed as closed length of the knife. 4" is the max for me but a lot depends on the weight of the knife as well. An inch or so might not sound much but it is on a Traditional, a 3" GEC 33 Conductor might seem much less than a 4.25 GEC 23 but it's like a city car against a huge truck!

Another factor is blade TYPE and thickness not just length. Cutting larger fruits is much easier with a broad spear blade than a Turkish Clip. Cutting out shapes is easy with a Coping blade or Sheepfoot

For EDC which includes trimming toe nails to field dressing big and small game, I prefer a 3 1/4" two bladed modified stockman. One clip point blade for initial opening cuts ( zipper function) and the other (modified spey) for taking the critters britches off:D
