How many at once?

Lately, and for quite some time now, I've been carrying four every day. I still often think that's kind of weird and excessive, even for me, though this has become a typical 'normal' for me, most days. I've become spoiled on being able to select what suits me in the moment, for any given knife task.

In my pockets today: Buck 110LT, Victorinox Alox Pioneer, Victorinox Alox Mini-Champ on my key fob, and my Opinel 'Carbone' No. 08. I use the popular 'safety pin trick' in my front pockets to vertically carry the Buck 110LT (in RFP) and the Alox Pioneer (in LFP). The Opinel is carried in a deep 'watch pocket' on the right front with its fob tucked inside my belt on that side. The key fob is looped to my belt on the left side, so the keys and the Mini-Champ ride suspended in my LFP.

I guess I've been lucky, in that I don't think anyone has ever asked to borrow one of my knives. There have been times when I've used mine to cut something for someone, when the need came up.

What good is a pocket without a knife? And I still wear cargo pants even though I'm retired. I have to admit, since I did retire, I have cut back some, down to a dozen or so, and they've gotten smaller as well, but I still never lack a sharp edge.

Why so many? Because I can. The most I'll carry? Twelve pounds.

It seems we think alike.

Almost always 2 in my pocket and usually a larger modern in my pack if I’m carrying it. In my pockets today are a user that takes the brunt of the work and always one that is a show off that could be used. For example today I have my Michael Jackson “Beat It” Imperial (and it shows) along with a used serrated Moki Silver Feather that qualifies as the show off. IMG_0336.jpeg

I pretty much always have 3 on me. My Vic Pioneer is always in my back pocket and I have a traditional and modern folder or pocket fixed blade in my front pocket together.

When I go hunting or shooting I add a medium or large fixed blade on my belt either opposite my pistol or scout across my back. Recently my variety of carry has gone down a bit because I haven’t been able to not carry my Zulu Spear from Grayson Jennings, but I used to rotate quite a lot on both the modern and traditional picks.

I would often forge to take pics of the Pioneer, but it is always there!

Peregrin Peregrin apologies there, edited the photo selection:

It just depends on what I'm wearing or what I'm doing. Since I've retired, I spend most of my time in athletic shorts or sweats. Then I only have a LW modern and my Alox Classic. When I wear jeans, I usually am back to 4, a modern, a small 5th pocket knife and 2 bigger slipjoints. Sometimes I'll wear jeans just so I can carry more knives even though they are far less comfortable.

Hey folks!
Please no images of modern knives or I'll have to move this to the general discussion forum.
Thanks!
Thankfully the only modern folder I own or carry is my Milwaukee utility knife.
I actually hate the thing ( not because it's modern ) but haven't discovered a suitable substitute that I'd like any better.

I find in interesting that they can coexist for so many people , I don't question why but find it interesting because it's something I just couldn't do no matter how I tried.
For me traditional and modern knives proved to be like water and oil, traditional folders really showed me what I disliked about the modern stuff which in turn showed me how much more I liked the traditional stuff.

Very situational. Most days 2 traditionals in the pocket. A main, and a lamb or other small secondary. One modern, lately a Spyderco I recently picked up, usually in back left pocket.

Then in a bag I keep another SAK, in case I find myself without something in my pocket. Very unlikely lol.

When the situation calls for it and I can't have a firearm, I'll snug a fixed blade at 12' iwb.

Hey there Jeff matey

I usually carry two, mine you I have a belt that has a horizontal carry sheath on it and I usually have a 92 tucked in there, and find myself having one in each front pocket.
Winter time when it calls for a Jacket to be worn I usually carry a big knife in the Jacket as well as a Front pocket Traditional.
This reminds me that sometimes I will carry 2 pocket knives in the winter when I put one of my larger ( by my standards ) ones into my vest pocket, because the knife slot in my pocket organizer never goes empty.

Usually carry a lambfoot, another traditional, and a modern folder. During work I use my modern folder 90% of the time. In public around the family I will use the traditional 90% of the time.

In the summer I only carry one modern and traditional which is normally a lambfoot.

When someone asks to borrow a knife I just hand them my modern folder. The thought of them messing up one of my traditional folders is too much 😂. If they break the tip on a modern I can just send it back for warranty work. If they would break the tip off of my vintage lambfoot I would start throwing fist 😁.

At one time in my childhood I would hang a sheath between each of my belt loops, if given the chance. I just couldn't make up my mind and carried them all.

Nowadays it's usually a traditional folder (locking or not) in my pocket with a modern folder clipped to the opening of the pocket. Sometimes I'll change it up and carry a fixed blade as well as, or instead of, the modern folder. It just depends where I'm going and what I intend to do, or if I just want to for fun.

A Micra in LFP, mostly for the scissors, but it does have a blade. IN RFP, an Alox Electrician and an Opinel 6 or 7. I may add a third knife, Okapi Biltong, lambsfoot, Hawbaker or improved muskrat, Buck Bantam 284, or anything else that catches my fancy. If I think I might want a fixed blade, I’ll put a small one in my pocket. Big knives go in the trunk, in a travel bag, or in a garden cart with the machetes,
