How many at once?

As soon as I get up in the morning I slip on a pair of flannel pants with an Opinel No. 8 carbone in the pocket. Once I'm dressed for the day around the house and property I have a Buck 112 on my belt, a Vic Fieldmaster in a cargo pocket, and a third knife in my left front pocket. This third knife is reserved for cutting bread, fruit melon, etc. and is most often a Swiss Army No. 1, but sometimes a Muskrat or other knife with a long, slim blade.

Away from home I have a Vic Minichamp and small flashlight hanging from a key clip on my belt and usually a smaller slip joint in a cargo pocket, and sometimes a Buck 501 on my belt. Depending on the day's expected activities I might swap the small slipjoint for a Tribal Lock or Copperlock in a leather slip.

One classic custom slipjoint in my pocket.

I have three beautyful classic slipjoints by other makers that I rotate together with a few I made myself. That's a good way to find improvement points on the knives I make.
I realy enjoyed a self made wharncliff untill I snapped off the delicate tip. I guess that's why the lambfoot is popular.

Generally I have one or two. If I'm out and about, there's either a SAK Cadet or Rambler on my key chain. At home, I usually have something in my watch pocket. Anything from peanut-sized to something around a Buck 301. For the last month or so, it's been this Buck 309.

Sometime in October word spread on the Buck forum that 112's in 5160 might still be available, so I've carried a 112 in my back pocket nearly every day for the last four months. A back pocket knife is unusual for me, but this one has been hard to put away.

That 309 is awesome! (Sweet 112 too.)

Usually I will have a single blade knife (such as a Mora, puukko, Buck 110, Mercator, Opinel or Laguiole) and a multitool (Victorinox or a SOG Paratool). Sometimes the single blade is replaced by something choppier like a hatchet, tomahawk, or Skrama, but I can't remember going beyond two knives. Even reenacting, I would have only a fixed blade belt knife and a sword (no bayonet as I presented as cavalry).

Ooh, unless you count the 16' lance! (Standard armament for 17th and 18th century Soldados de Cuera in Nueva EspaƱa was 1728 pattern boca de caballo cavalry sword, long lance, belt knife, brace of pistols, and Catalan stocked escopeta. I carried all these when reenacting.)

Normally, I carry 3 knives.

1, a belt knife, which is normally a Case 6265 Folding Hunter. I do switch this out for other sheath knives, including a Buck 110 (Which I carried for a few years) and a Buck 192 as the notion strikes me.

2, a pocket knife, carried in my right front pocket, which is almost always a Case 6375 Jumbo stockman. I have a hole in my pocket of several pair of pants and I haven't carried it in a while due to that. I need to fix those holes.

3, a Leatherman original, carried in my left front pocket with my keys.

Lately, with the holes in several pairs of pockets, it's been just the Case Folding Hunter and Leatherman PST.

On occasion, I will carry a smaller knife in my coin pocket. Often it's this little thin Schrade.

And likewise on occasion, I will carry a single bladed pocket clip knife (new fangled). That doesn't really pair well though with my other carry, which is a Ruger Blackhawk in 44 Special. The places I want to carry that type of knife, it ends up getting in a fight with my holster. Before I carried a gun all the time, I often carried a quick opening folder though.

And, again, on occasion, I will carry a SAK Classic in the same pocket as my Leatherman PST and keys. Sometimes that'll stay in pocket for weeks at a time, though I haven't done that for a year or two now.

So, 1, 2, 3, plus the occasional coin pocket small knife and the SAK, and the quick opening folder, would be a max of 6 on the super rare occasion.
Most of the time, for knife work, I reach for my belt knife. For anything that isn't nice to knives, I reach for the Leatherman tool. So, never less than 2, and most of the time 3.

Nice flat-top, John. Do you use the Skeeter load in it? I always liked the looks of the Vanguard and it pairs nicely with a SA revolver.
