how many do u carry?

am I carrying to much?

It would certainly be too much for me. But considering that I'm the only one who is me, I can only speak for myself. (deep... i know... I'll give you a minute to let it sink in.)

I normally only carry one knife. At work where the knife has to be innocuous looking, I usually go with a SAK or traditional slipjoint. On the weekends, it might be something a little more modern.

depending on the situation i might carry more than one. For example, if I'm doing a bunch of construction, i might have a fixed blade and a multitool on my belt. In the woods, I likely have a fixed blade on my belt, but a multi tool in my day-pack.

Either way, one, or possibly two knives is the usual answer for me...

99% of the time just one folder. I am surrounded by cutting tools at work and at home. I always have a pack nearby with other things if needed.
Fixed blade when in the woods.

Lockback folder in right hand pocket. Victorinox Spartan in another pocket.
I never think about not carrying them.

As for the issue of weight, I'm much more cognizant of it when I'm hiking and carrying gear in a backpack. However, when it comes to my pockets, I personally experience no negative effect of carrying a few extra ounces as long as it can be clipped securely and doesn't cause the pocket to bulge. That being said, we all have our preferences, and there's nothing wrong with that. I personally can't understand how some people carry big ass key chains in their pockets. I prefer to just carry my vehicle's single fob.

I'm not sure why I carry that many, I guess now it's just a habit when I grab my things before I go anywhere they just automatically get put in my pockets, I like having more than one sharp blade on me but I rarely have a need for more than one knife so I'll probably scale down a bit since I have other edc's (9mm small flashlight, wallet) I carry, I guess I just like them alot

No offense taken my friend. And honestly, although I have and will state my reasons, the real reason is simply because I enjoy carrying them. It started when I discovered the Emerson Karambit and decided to add it to my EDC. Besides the obvious practicality of the Karambit as a last resort self-defense blade (I'm not a knife fighter and hope to never be), I found it to be a useful addition for various tasks. For example, when cutting cord or rope on something I have tied down in the back of my truck. I can pull the chord taut with my right hand, and then wave out my Karambit in my left and quickly make the cut. As for the Dragonfly, those are so small that I seriously never even notice them in my pocket. I only carry them when I wear pants that have a pocket flap, and they disappear right into the velcro closure. Obviously the one is for when I want a serrated blade, whereas the other is for tasks where I might gunk up my nicer primary folder.

"Because I enjoy it." Is always a valid answer. (Unless of course the question was "Why are you a serial offender?":D)

Depends on the situation. During the week while at work I only carry one knife, a modern folder, usually a Delica. On the weekends usually two, a modern folder and a traditional. If i'm fishing it's what was already in my pocket plus a Gerber Flik Fish and maybe a Farm & Field #65. Oh and a Victorinox Classic SAK on my keys.

Usually just one of my folders. If the situation called for a fixed blade knife, then the fixed blade and a smaller folder.

Generally I carry eight knives, each for a different purpose.

Calm down there Machete. ;)

Most days there is a modern folder with pocket clip in my right front pocket ... and an Alox SAK Farmer in my left front pocket ...

If I'm going to be outdoors working alot I usually have a Leatherman Wave on my belt and depending what it is I'm doing a fixed blade on my belt ... and that ranges from small to large dependant on what I'm doing that day.

Depends.
This week it's this

The Leatherman fuse is always on me as is the tiny imperial is always hanging around my neck so I've got a bit of carbon steel with me at all times.

Normally it's just one folder in my pocket along with a Vic Classic or LM micra for the small tools, then often some kind of belt knife.
This time it's two folders in my pocket because both are new acquisitions.

I EDC 6 knives.

I carry a Buck 510 in my RFP, a Kabar 1121 rigging knife in my LFP, a BK11 in my LRP, a Protech TR4 clipped to my RFP, and then a pair of Kabar 125Xs at 4 and 8 on my belt.

The Buck is for light weight cutting, the rigger is carried solely for its marlin spike, the BK11 is my heavier duty knife for any thing I don't want to use a fold on and the shorties are for general fixed blade use, including emergencies.

I work on machinery all the time, work on a farm where one hand may be engaged and unable to what cutting needs doing. Having a fixed blade available on either side precludes needing a knife NOW and not being able to reach it.

The redundancy allows me to keep working efficiently if a blade dulls and I don't need to stop to sharpen one.

Redundancy and preparedness are your friends.

I know most people don't agree with but that's OK. they're allowed to be wrong.

One, my DPX HEST in my left pocket every day. I have a EDC HKP2K 9mm on my right hip. I am a U S Military firearms instructor and travel the border daily.

Rockstead Shu with a Spyderco Manbug bead-chained to my car key. The "Shu" is rotated between Spyderco Caly 3.5 ZDP, Spyderco Dragonfly ZDP, Sage 5, SAK Old Issue Soldier (1983), or a PM2 S110V. In the field, a fixed blade Rockstead KEI, and one of the rotational folders works well with a Leatherman Wave or SAK New Issue Soldier (2017).

Work, weekends, I just carry one blade. Hunting, camping, I usually have a fixed and or a folder along with a multi tool. Usually have back knife in my pack too.

Everyday there's a 3.5-4" folder clipped in my r/f pocket and honestly it rarely gets used.
But at work I carry a sheathed paring knife that is constantly used.
These threads are sometimes my reality check.
Maybe I have too many folders...keep your eyes peeled for some exchange goodies coming up.

I was trying to find a way to carry every knife I own after first reading this post ... but to get over the magical 50 mark ... I had to give up my sock sheathed sword and my tacticool baseball bat that was stuffed down my left pant legs ... sighhh

so dang I guess I'm back to just a modern clipped in front right and a SAK Farmer in front left ...

Just one unless I'm hunting or camping, when I will carry a fixed blade and a folder.
