I made this little set-up for my daughter to carry in her purse. Shes 15 and lucky enough to go to a school that allows carry of a knife with B.L. 2" or less.
The knife is D2 steel with wssi stabilized grape vine scales & the light is just an inexpensive LED type. I added a glow in the dark lanyard end and bright cordage to the little kydex sheath so its a bit easier to find.
It gets
so very dark (unless there's a moon) with no street lights on the mostly wooded roads where we live. IMHO, just a little flicker of light along with that little piece of steel can mean the difference between panic & anxiety or manageable discomfort when a flat or breakdown occurs.
I've taught my little one that a light source and small knife is like an
American Express Card ...... you "don't leave home without it"
We just recently picked up a "first car" for her, getting ready for that soon to arrive day when she gets her drivers license

One of the first things we did after cleaning the new ride was to put together a little survival kit. It of course contains, a
good light,
another knife, "space" blanket, lighter, etc. , etc. all in a waterproof hard side handgun case. Into the corner of her trunk it went, hopefully never to be needed. But, if ever she does, its comforting to know that its there. Comforting for me

...... and her
And please pardon the bad pics. It had been in her purse for a few weeks before I was able to take them so it shows a little wear.
Anyway, here's her little combo..........
