How many different GEC pattern numbers (#XX) do you own?

I have exactly zero.

Five or six years ago I was on the quest for a new knife for whittling, and I wanted it to be carbon steel. The search led me to GEC (and also the Porch, incidentally). I quickly realized that you couldn’t just BUY one, and the prices seemed kinda high anyway, so I said forget about it.

Since then, having seen something of the culture which surrounds the brand, and the type of behavior it can engender, I have deliberately avoided anything to do with GEC (he says while commenting in a thread about GEC…).

I don’t really begrudge the enthusiasts’ enjoyment of GEC, but I have never been into “collectables” and collector culture.

Thanks to others for making a numerical list, helps those like me who detest maths and allow inertia to creep in. I have no lists of my collection, no database or anything- too much like office-work :eek: I also had to go to he GEC site to jog the memory cog...

I'm lucky enough to own : 13, 14, 15, 18, 25, 33, 35, 38, 48, 55, 56, 57, 62, 66, 68, 71, 73, 76, 77, 78, 79, 82, 83, 85, 86, 92, 93. TOTAL 27 Twenty-Seven patterns.

Ones I've had but given away, traded

26 Primitive Bone
47 Osage Orange
61 Stag
99 Stag

Pattern No.s I want, None, so I'm lucky not to be tortured.

Patterns I'm looking forward to A Sleeveboard, Full size Norfolk, Eureka Stockman but what will the No.s be no idea.

The last one I bought was the 19 when they were released in late 2020. My interests lie elsewhere these days for a couple of reasons. I prefer stainless steel blades and I don't like the lollyscramble.

I have probably owned 50-60 GEC's since their inception but those 3 are the only ones I still have.
 
6s, 12s, a 23, a 29, 38 specials, a 44, a 47, 48s, 53s, 54s, 62s, 68s, a 71, 73s, 74s, a 78, an 86, an 89, a 92, and a 97.
and in these times… that’s just fine by me

I just used JoKr's list to count the ones I used to, but no longer own. Another 17 besides my current crop of 32. Of course, I've been at it since 2008. I can't see myself getting too many more, but I would dearly love to get at least one #88 sowbelly with the clip and lambsfoot. Oh, and I have three of the fixed blades as well.
 
IIRC I have 12 different patterns.
I discovered GEC through the Porch and since they are harder and harder to get, especially when abroad, I must say that some came thanks to friendship (and what friends!) or GAWs...
Barrett, did you also count all those you gave away? 🤔 (same would apply to Charlie 😉)

This reminds me the story of a peasant who asked his three boys to each drop 10000Fr onto his coffin when he is buried.
On the burial day, the elder comes and painfully drops a banknote bundle into the grave. His brother follows, who suffers also a lot but finally drops the money.
Then come the youngest. He jumps into the grave, collects the banknotes and leaves a check. 😺

I have 29 different patterns. 05,06,14,15,23,25,28,29,33,35,38,47,49,62,65,68,71,72,74,77,78,83,85,86,89,92,93,94
It's evolved rather organically over time. I wanted to check out all these patterns at one point or another and most of them never left. I skipped some patterns that I didn't like but there aren't many I don't like :)

I don’t think I’ve given away (or sold) any patterns that I didn’t have some other example of myself; as far as I could tell yesterday, I still have at least one example of every pattern I’ve ever owned.

Some more than others. 😁

One thing I noticed when counting is that I’m missing one “decade” of patterns; I’ve got the 00’s, 10’s, 20’s, 30’s, 40’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s covered, but I don’t have any patterns in the 50’s.
 
An interesting question for sure. I'm pretty sure I have more than 20, but I'll have to sort through my chests when I get home to truly see what's what.
 
I have Gifted quite a few Northfields but only 1 that I did not have another one of . Without counting , I know that I have more 77's than any other and then 15's , and then 74's . Then I realized that I could not " Buy Them All " , so I tried to limit myself to 2 of each pattern . I could not control myself though when they ran the 23's .
btb01 btb01 : That is strange that you do not have any of the 50's and I only have a 55 .
