I'd been pullin gthem off for years and didn't know either until the one let me know :) Another side note, they make GREAT catfish bait. Just be careful putting them on the hook, they sometimes pop and squirt green crap all over the place.

Thanks GRUNT SOLDIER for the kind words sir...

Oh yeah,I remember the green crap all over my hands from accidentally squishing 'em.

I found one of those tomato worms on my "Big Mama" plant yesterday (its an heirloom tomato called "Mr. Stripey" but the plant is 7' tall and by far the biggest I have grown or seen). The worm was covered with white eggs (eekkkk!!!!). Straight to the fire pit with you and your eggs wormey!

After I looked back at this thread and read the "if you find one there are a dozen more" comment I was outside with my Fenix scouring all the plants. I did only see the one and I hope I stopped the dozen more in the form of the eggs. Man, in the pic that worm was actually kind of cool looking...covered in eggs it was completely gross!!!!!!

Actually if the worm had eggs on it's back it was probably the eggs of a parasitic wasp. They eventually kill the worm but not before the worm eats your whole plant :)

Recent yield...peppers. Cukes. Striped tomatoes. Hot chili peppers

Do you preserve/can all of the excess?

How's everyone's garden doing?

Mine never exploded, but I have been pulling some produce here and there. Here's a pic from the harvest...

about the same here, been to wet, but we manged to pull a few things out every other ay at least, my neighbor planted sweet baby watermelons and said about half of them came out sour because of the weather, so at least we know it's not just us!

Mine has went full on crazy. to much rain has caused most my plants to be diseased but they are still producing like crazy. I'll take some pics today but so far hundreds of tomato's and peppers. Hundreds of potato's. tons of cabbage and sauerkraut. the only thing not really producing is my butternut squash and it's the first year I have grown it. it has a ton of them set on the plant but they are all tiny.

Maybe a bit off topic but I went out to water my Chile Pequin's, Jalapenos and Serrano's yesterday and noticed that half of my Pequin bush was gone! a quick look and I found seven of these little thieves:

I put them all in a bowl and placed it under the bird feeder. I actually enjoyed watching the Grackles much on them...
JP

The tobacco worms/tomato/horned worms are a treat for reptile hobbyists to feed their animals they have to be purged first but sell for $10 for 15 of 'em once purged!

Butternut squash is going crazy. some big stuff forming but it I'm not sure on this yet. it's my first year for it and It seems like some of the squash starts die off after a week or so. I guess I'll just keep watching and see. I wonder if there is something I'm suppose to be doing that I'm not though

Second batch of green beans are going well. This is my first batch of Jade green beans which from what I understand are suppose to be awesome. I'm hoping so!

Peppers are really doing well. they are digging the warmer weather!

And how about some amazing food all made with stuff from the garden minus the sausage! it was so delicious I want to go eat more now!

Looks great!

You folks may just motivate me to get out my tiller and start gardening again.......

best
