How many knives do you carry?

Last time i truly needed a knife, i was out and about in my personal vehicle, 'interacting with the public.' Protection a priority now (retired FD, police don't automatically show up when i 'meet new people'.) Sidearm, 'tactical knife', and, even dog spray...check.

I stepped out of my car, to meet some sort Husky type dog. Noticeably over sized, too big for any dog.(Relatively speaking, like Percheron or Clydesdale bigger.) It did not like me. Further, it advanced on me and appeared to want to murder me.

I'm not afraid of any dog, as a rule. In 54 years, this is the first dog i couldn't back down. This was all new. This is different. This is gonna hurt. I can take an ass beatin.' Plenty of practice at that. Even when people tell me ' enough is enough', i don't listen - not that bright - and i really gotta mouth on me.

(His bark is worse than his bite. A 'dog based metaphor' That's just some bullshit people say. In fact, breaking it down, literally, if you get both, the bite's always gonna be worse. 😉)

Alright...we're gonna have to 'come to an understanding', legit.

In reverse order, dog spray, knife, sidearm. All present and readily available, arm's reach.... in the car 10 feet behind me. 🤷‍♂️

Good thing the owner was around (to protect me) and call the dog off. I'm still not sure how that one would've turned out.

2.

A small victorinox along swiss army soldier and a rotating larger cutter.

The SAK is for everyday tasks, while the larger cutter is for big or more defensive tasks.

Two. Always a small CRK Sebenza clipped to right front pocket or cargo pocket. The second is either an SAK Compact or fixed blade (Fiddleback Forge Monarch or EDK) on the belt, or a Leatherman Wave in my pack.

Seriously though, I carry one folder in my right front pocket and a SAK in my shoulder bag or coat pocket.
So do I. One hand opener in mi right front pocket (or inside the waistband, depending on the pants type or how discret I want to be) and a SAK or multitool in the backpack.

I my van I have several more and also at the office desk (a serrated Military for bread cutting tasks and a Wenger Ranger that is too heavy to carry anywhere else).

When I go hiking or climbing, it might be two or three. Last weekend I went for an overnight and I was carryng a Benchmade Bugout in my pants pocket, a VIC Farmer in the backpack, a Falkniven F1 + prunning saw (fixed handle, not folding) for woodcraft/firecraft related tasks (we planned to gather firewood for a night fire).

4- Primary EDC front right pocket, Opinel in a jacket pocket to share or dirty jobs, Small fixed blade in my pack with my computer and a Falkniven U2 in my inside jacket pocket.

I bought the U2 because of the novelty of the SGSP laminated steel and because I read some reviews about how awesome edge retention it had.

However I find it too small and the lack of pocket clip is a problem (for me)... so I don't use it as much as I expected. If this steel was presented in a Spyderco kind of blade I would be all over it.

How do you like the U2 and what do you use it for?

most days one folder, some times two, in both the RV and Jeep a couple of folders, a rescue folder and two or three fixed blades

Generally one folder but there are times when I add either a SAK or a folding utility knife (CIVIVI Elementum folding utility) depending on what I'm doing on the weekends. I also may carry a small fixed blade when doing chores outside.

At least two on me, plus whatever is in my bag, for regular day to day. One mid to full size (3-4") folder and a money clip knife (MCusta). Work doesn't allow for fixed.

For more dressy situations I have a gentleman's lockback that my grandfather had.

I don't push it in restrictive environments (part of the cost of doing business) since I would have a hard time explaining what went sideways to my boss.

Wife always gave me crap for carrying a SAK on top of it all, but I am rethinking that.

Depends, I almost always have a primary knife of some variety, and a Victorinx Rambler in my watch pocket. When I am at work, I add to that a Gerber multitool and a Milwaukee Fastback Utility knife.
When not at work, usually the two, but when I go to church or am wearing dress pants I will sometimes just have one smallish knife.
This is not counting the mora and another multitool in my vehicle, and another multitool in my tackle box, etc. I don't know if I will ever want of a tool to cut something with 😂
