How many knives on the person is too many?

For the longest time I carried one knife at a time. However, over the past few months (no doubt due to BF) I have found myself carrying more. First it was the leatherman, then the leatherman and a folder, now it's the leatherman, a small folder in one pocket and a large folder in the other.

I tell myself, "ok i need a small folder for small stuff. the large folder for larger stuff, and the multitool is just palin useful." But now i get this little nagging voice telling me that a neck knife might be useful

And the girlfriend isn't sympathetic.

How many is too many for you?

I'm fine with just the one folder clipped in my right front pants pocket...along with a Leatherman and a SAK in the car in case I need something more specialized. :D

Ray :)

Girlfriend? Sympathetic? What business is it of hers, what you choose to carry?

It's none of your business what she has in her purse, and she would be justly angry if you censored her choice of compact and lipstick or whatever.

In the same way, it is none of her business what you have in your pockets.

Get some boundaries. This really is a case where good fences make good neighbors.

When I think to myself "I should have left some at home".And next time I forget that completely, and overload myself with blades again.

I am what some may call, "whipped".

However, I did purchase her a pink Leek recently. Hopefully she'll begin to understand the utility and beauty of a knife.

I'm just go for it and stick with the three knife setup lol.

Not possible!

In uniform (LEO) Waved endura strong side pocket
Native Support side pocket
L-man Wave on duty belt
Spydercard in credential wallet

SWAT Callout: Waved endura strong side pocket
NativeII Support side pocket
Parrish Survivor in sheath with L-man Supertool pouch
Spydercard in credential wallet

Office attire: Waved endura strong side pocket
NativeII Support side pocket
Spydercard in credential wallet

Off-duty: Waved endura strong side pocket
NativeII Support side pocket
Spydercard in credential wallet
L-man Supertool in factory pouch or custom pouch with
firesteel

Occasionally, an ATR slips into rotation, or if I'm hunting a skinner is added.
I have a Eddie White fighter in an IWB sheath that is great, but is not comfortable except in one place, strong hip, just towards the back, which is the location of my IWB 1991A1 in off-duty wear. I have not yet resolved this conflict, but am working on it.

Usually three to four on my person and another six + in the Land Rover, not counting the 12" Ontario machete. I don't even carry a Leatherman but probably should. When we go camping I have up to twenty knives with me but then we don't backpack. I sleep with a Randall #1. It's my pretty.

What does your girlfriend say when you ask her how many shoes is too many? You just have to put it into perspective. Just remember that the ones in your pockets are unseen and therefore of no concern to anyone but you.

I usually carry 2 plus sometimes a multitool. You will rarely see one of mine unless I am using it and I only use one at a time, so as far as anyone else is concerned, I have one at most.

Your girlfriend may not want to be seen with someone who is armed to the teeth, and that is understandable. Maybe you will meet another nice girl at the knife shop.

How many pockets do you have?

See the problem is you need a folder, a multi-tool for the tools and use the blade has backup and then you need a fixed as the heavy duty. And that doesn't include the different sizes.

and I thought I was nuts.....
Well, Kershaw Blur, right front pocket, tip-up, Kershaw leek, Right front top pocket, tip up.
ZT 0150 IWB either 12'oclock or 4'oclock, for when I feel like it.
Sog Trident, left rear pocket
Inside wallet, Kershaw chive and SAK tiniest model, only file and blade.

That's how I roll every day pretty much now....

better than being self whipped aint it ? ;)

in lunch box : Case Sea Horse Whittler and Kershaw Double Cross.

I dont need less knives , I need more dam pockets !!

:D

I don't have any reason to carry more than two at a time.

Just got in one of AGR's 2.5" TI lockbacks...this one might be a reason to have a third. Unbelievable little knife! Almost as slim as shirt cardboard, weighs about as much as a couple of postage stamps, VG-10 blade...wow!

Check out the Faded Glory Carpenter jeans at Wal-Mart. ;) They have an extra pocket on the left leg below the hammer loop which is large enough for two Spyderco Militaries, the right leg has a double pocket which can easily hold an Endura and a couple of Delicas, and the watch pocket is large enough to hold a Leatherman Micra, a Mico Dyad and a Dyad Jr with room left over. That doesn't even get into the four regular pockets. :D

While I might like to carry a few choice knives at any one time, I'm content with a folder(for cutting) and a SAK(for odd jobs). The way I see it is that I wouldn't use more than one knife at a time, so there isn't really a need to carry more. I also don't like the feeling of being weighed down, nor do I want to raise any eyebrows with a bunch of clips sticking out of my pockets. It comes down to what you're comfortable with.

Not that the BoxANT really needs to please JTR357, but girls can't stand whipped guys either, and BoxANT will lead a happier life once he realizes this. Raymond1000 is right, it's none of your business what she carries in her purse, and it's none of her business what you carry in your pockets.

Edit: Forgot to add, I carry 3 folders, plus a multitool and a minitool on my person, and more in a bag when I carry one.
You should carry as many as you want.

I'm of the firm opinion that 25 knives are too many to have on your person for everyday carry.
