how many of you carry and use a custom knife?

Hello all. I usually carry one of my own, a personal carry small bowie. Have for 4 years. For dress occasions, a John Perry folder since I don't make folders, yet.
Have a good holiday.

I carry a Ranger Original Slipjoint folder daily - and for outdoors activity, I carry the first blade I ever made.

I don't worry too much about scratching them. If you look close, most of mine have a few scratches built in - for character. ;)

Women like character. Marilyn EDCs a Ranger Original slipjoint too.

Around the house I use one of my little forged utility knives made of 52100. I've been using the latest one for about 9 months. When I leave the house I slip a Kershaw folder with the Ken Onion speed assisted opening liner lock into my pocket. I have three different ones that I choose from. I'm not knowledgeable about factory knives, so I don't even know the names of the models that I carry. My wife carries the rainbow colored chive folder by Kershaw in her purse.

I carry a Leatherman Charge Ti and the only folder I've ever made. The first gets used a *lot* more than the second but the second makes me feel good :)

I usually carry my Houndstooth design and a strider SnG or a small sebenza (both lefties)

I carry one of the first few folders I made. I have not treated it gently, so it looks like hell now, but it still works fine.
I think I'd better make myself a new one, though. When I tell people I make knives, they always want to see one - and I'm pretty reluctant to show them the old, ugly, scratched up one I'm carrying.

I carry one of J. Neilson's JerzeeDevil EDCs, a damascus fixed blade I made (a bit big for an EDC really, but it had a couple flaws so it's a beater/test knife now), and a Kershaw Lahar flipper.

I'll be making myself a more apropriate EDC sometime soon....I hope...

When I first started I would take a cheap linner lock and replace the blade to test differant steels and heat treating. I had one linner lock that went through 3 or 4 blades before I managed to destroy it. Now I cary one I made, but I'm still not very gentile with it and as abused as it looks it can be embarising to show it. If nothing else I like to carry my own and give'm hell to see what they'll take.

I carry a Gerber multitool and a linerlock folder I made with a damascus blade for a serious sharp cutter when working or playing hard. When out in public I carry a small lock back folder with damascus blade and ivory scales. I do promote my own work.

Of course we carry and use our customs :D

I always have a really small fixed blade model I made a few years back on my belt, a # 14, D2 with black G10 scales. Also a Damasteel Bali with stainless handles and ivory inserts that I made last winter in my backpocket........always ;)

I now have a day gig where I can't wear a belt knife, (the Gerber Multitool on my belt freaked out the the HR manager and almost got me fired) so when I'm at the day job I carry a little Victorinox, sometimes a Buck 110 in my pocket, when I'm home, and before I got this job I carry(d) either my purpleheart 5 inch O-1 upswept or what became my absolute favorite EDC, my little 4 inch upswept willowleaf with a stagcrown handle that was the first blade I ever beat out with a hammer.
To paraphrase someone's sig line, whats the good of making a superior working tool if you can never have it at hand to use?

If I make something out of steel that's not meant to be carried and used I'm not going to call it a knife. If you're not going to put an edge on something and cut with it it's not a knife.

str mod flipper and one of my neck knives oo and a spyderco cricket

Curse that cricket! I can't stop picking it up and putting it in my pocket. I make darn good liner-locks (no better than anyone else here) but yet I can't stop putting that cricket in my pocket. I'm going to have to make something similar and then give the spyderco away to a nephew or something or I'm afraid I'll just keep carrying it. I feel a little shame that I make customs and carry a store-bought. It's got to end!

I didn't realize I posted two of the same pictures :foot: it's fixted now if anyone is interested....

thanks Matt he does some nice work for sure..

I am a new maker and carry what I make with pride, its the main reason I started making folders.

This is one tough knife, I love the patena the 1095 is getting.

every morning i put it on IWB behind my belt and forgetaboutit
almost never gets used (its my "backup")

I carry one of Eddie White's model IX's. It's in a left-handed, black leather clip on. Goes perfect behind the left hip and stays put.

One of these decades I'll have one of Kerry's backpockets. I also want something from Ken Erickson. I want something from Butch Harner and Jim Rehrer and Gerry Drew and John Barker and T.A. Davison (one of his fixed baldes) ... :p I also want some of Koster's and Harner's kitchen stuff.

Don't know if all of those would be EDC-able but who knows. I've got knives on order with Nick (NWA) and Jim and Daniel Koster. Jim's should turn out to be a nice EDC. Then will have to make the hard choice between it and Eddie's. Dan's will have to fight with my Buck Nighthawk maybe...

So many knives, so little OT. :(

come on now you all know you are worried about putting a scratch on those beautifull customs myself

nope , dont worry me a bit. I spent good money on em , so why let em sit , they are knives , used to cut...to me if I let it sit in the safe , it aint a knife , its art.

I carry a few productions , the one custom that I carry and use daily is a Rinaldi Matrix.... last time we hung out in Vegas and he looked at the knife he asked " WTF you cutting with this thing ? "............. " anything and everything , bro...the way its supposed to be "

:)

first thing I did with my BECK Tracker is go beat it up in the woods seeing how she worked. I sharpened her up on a stone and did scuff one side. She aint for sale so I dont mind:D Thats MY scuff and I love having that knife to scuff:thumbup:
