How many of you go without a multitool?

Kind of self explanatory but was wondering how many of you guys don't carry a SAK or Leatherman type tool in the woods? I've been playing around with different combo's and the full size Wave just isn't working for me. I'm basically going out with a P4 and a Ritter Grip, along with fixed blade etc.

I recently stopped carrying my leatherman ST. I always have my SAK fieldmaster. It is small and has a saw scissors and knives.

I love having pliers around, though, hot pot lids, knots, tics. They just come in handy. I am debating it constantly, it is a big chunk of metal though.

EDC, I never carry a multi-tool because they are just to big and every once in a while I carry a Alox Soldier but since it doesn't have a pocket clip I'm always scared of losing it. If I figure out a place to put a clip on for me or I risktrying it myself I would carry it a lot more though.

I carry a BM griptilian EDC but I'm currently in the market for a smaller knife with similiar properties.

I go back and forth..If the LM isn't working try a vic farmer ..it's small like a pocket knive should be it;s rock solid, It's got a great main blade an awesome wood awl which drills like the dickens and a kick butt saw. hard to beat for 17.00 on amazon

I always have a SAK in my pocket when I am out, I keep a cheapo small Multitool in my bag, only take it out when I'm fishing as the pliers come in handy.

The largest multi-type knife/tool I'll take with me is a SAK Locksmith. I carry a Wave here at home, but I don't think I need a bunch of screwdrivers or the like.

I carry two knives most of the time. One is a Vic SAK Adventurer and a SOG Mini-Vulcan. The Mini-V is a new addition and I'm liking it a lot. If I leave one home, it's the SOG. I keep a SOG multi-tool in my work brief case as well as a fully serrated Spyderco Endura for special tasks. I also use the SAK Locksmith a good bit.

Carry a swiss army Hiker with a fixed blade. The squirt and a neck knife is what i carry when i want to travel light in the city.

Having pliers around is so useful but they are heavy and I don't usually like to be weighed down extra... so I usually just carry a small SAK, which covers everything but the pliers.

I'm constantly surprised at people balking at carrying 5 oz of a very usefull tool when they are very likely to are several, if not many pounds overweight.

But maybe that's just me.....

:D

Well I don't use it a ton when in the woods, except for the pliers to take a pot off the fire or something. But I carry and use it everyday otherwise, so it naturally follows me into the woods. Plus I added a firesteel and stick of fatwood to the sheath, so if I was in a survival situation, it would be priceless to me. Leatherman Wave.

Why put an extra load on the knees? :D

I'm not overweight but I do like to carry as minimally as possible.

I second the SAK farmer. I always carry my farmer no matter what else I am carrying. I also carry a larger folder, right now its the endura 4, and my SOG powerlock. I don't worry too much about weight, I carry all of these items on such a regular basis that I feel naked without them. I do keep my farmer tethered to my pants with a simple lanyard made out of 550 cord and clip off of an old photon light. I never carry a knife without a belt case/sheath, a pocket clip, or a lanyard. I carry a knife to be prepared and I want to make sure its there when I need it.

I always have my Swiss Spirit in my PSK, better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it !!!!

I used to carry my Gerber for pulling thorns. The pliers were the only tool that I used in the field, unless I needed a screwdriver on one of the guns.

I found a Vic Mechanic, though, and its pliers pull thorns better, it has better knife blades (more useable from all aspects) and the screwdrivers are equally as useable. Saves me a bunch of weight and bulk. I've thought of just carrying a hemostat for the thorn pulling, and a thinner, lighter Vic. Simplification of things.

My Leatherman Wave always comes to camp with me, but that's where it stays. My Spyderco Delica and my Fallkniven F1 get go go hiking with me. Multitool is too heavy to hump the hills with.(P.S. I'm not overweight)

I cannot express how often I rely on my SAK at home, at work, in the car, or in the field. I have a Swiss Tinker that I have on me at all times as well as one that I cannot seem to find on the website that I keep on my keychain. I would be carrying a Gerber Diesel if it was working or a Leatherman Surge if I had $80. I find them next to useless in the field, but I would rather have one than not on that day that I need it.

For some reason, I went back to using the original Leatherman Survival Tool (before they had options and other tools). I still own a small pile of these compact, light weight tools and they have always served me well.

I allways have one with me, wether its on the belt or in a pack changes depending on what I want on my belt, but I have ove with me.

I do have a huntsman or a camper with me edc and in the woods along with a BM 551 and my masterhunter or Sog revolver H.
