How many people carry there knives illegally

illinois is sooooo crazy
it says that u r carrying a weapon when u have "any dangerous knife" on your person and u intend 2 do any illegal activity w/ it

this means that all u have 2 do is wait and they have 2 prove that that you were gonna do something illegal w/ it

MODS-this might get more attention if it is in knife laws

Just a short word about New Mexico's Knife Law. As soon as you put the knife in your pocket (any size / length) it is considered a concealed weapon. However this is one of those laws that is rarely enforced. The exception would be carry on school grounds. The schools here have a zero tolerance attitude. Had a 12 year old girl we had to take into juvenile detention because she had a knife on school property. The knife was a tiny SAK like, with scissors, nail file, and small blade. Not what I'd consider a deadly weapon.
I will mention that we did have one fatal school shooting in our town and this is what brought about the zero tolerance about weapons in schools.
The charge for carrying a concealed weapon is a petty misdemeaner and not worth all the paperwork. On school grounds it is considered a 4th degree felony.

In my state, Colorado, I am generally not concerned with switchblade laws, but with blade length restrictions and application technicalities. The general pocket knife exemption is for blades under 3.5". There are a lot of cool knives that push that limit. My EDC is 3.25" so it is only a problem if I grab one of my folding hunting knives. If I am hunting it is OK to carry a longer knife. How do they know if I am in the process of getting on the road to hunt? Maybe I just haven't loaded my rifle into the car yet. Does it count when I walk into the store to buy more ammo?

make your body a weapon!

It's not the tool but the operator of the tool.

I think arms means guns.

In those days edged weapons were more important as arms than they are today. Swords and bayonets were important military weapons, for example. The Founding Fathers used the term "arms" so as not to limit the meaning to "guns" alone.

Well I guess i should be fine carrying a under 4" folder here in NYC.

I do IT as my job while in school. Could that be reason for the knife. Even thogh i dont use it on the job alot, well i do sometimes.

I use mine to work with CAT5 cable when I need to.

I just find it difficlt to answer this on a public forum. Feel free to E-mail me for my thoughts concerning the carrying of a weapon in violation of a State Law.

But to answer in the open might prove expensive!!!

Therefore my lips are:footinmou :footinmou :footinmou

I guess I'll be the first to admit that I break the law. In-fact I do it about a dozen times a day. I speed, roll stop signs, and a host of other traffic violations. I swear in the company of women occasionally. I often litter, jaywalk, and yes I carry a knife which depending on exactly what city/county I am in at the moment may be concidered illegal. Actually, maybe a dozen violations per day is a little low. ;)

Everyone says they obey the law, but if you watch them I think you will find that they are just like me. The laws we live under are literally impossible to obey completely. So you must weigh the probability of getting caught against the punishment given. If you can handle the heat, I say DO IT. If you can't or if you feel it is morally wrong, DON'T.

I mean I get searched, whats the worst that can happen for having my Benchmade 710 or Para-Millie

^The worst that can happen? They take away your knife. Then they fine you. Maybe even jail you. Then they put you on THE LIST which may or may not restrict you from owning a handgun.

Every so often I carry my AFCK here in colorado where .5 inches of steel somehow turns a tool into a dangerous weapon.

I need to find something comparable and legal, my 722S isn't quite as good.

Thinking about that HK spearpoint.

Back in the early 80's i used carry around illeagal aliens, the kind from space, so long as they had their disimilator rays I felt perfectly safe. :D

From what I understand, at least in my area, knife laws are kinda there for an extra point. Let's say you're a normal, average guy wandering around with your knife. Nobody really cares. If you're a drunk, wandering in the streets after dark, then they can use the "illegal knife" to hold you or something.

Not that Ohio laws are super strict or anything, though. Personally, I carry what I carry, and that's it. It's not illegal, and even if it were, I don't put myself in situations where it would matter anyway. I don't have a lot of use for legal stuff, much less illegal items. I don't need to carry knives that scare the sheeple, and I don't make a big deal out of any of my knives.

Funny story - I was working with some ladies today, and one of them pulled out a small SAK knockoff. The other lady FREAKED out, something about "Weapons in a weapon-free zone" which we were apparently in, at least in this woman's mind. This particular knife couldn't open mail, which made my smile to myself as I patted my BM 910 with nobody the wiser. .

Yeah but did they have their anal probes with them?

I always carry 2 knives, one is always a CUDA MAXX 7.5,the other varies but it is usually more sheeple friendly. If a 110 is considered sheeple friendly.Should I expect the boys in black tonight for posting this.Interesting, the Law. Maybe I'll become a lawyer. Any thoughts guys? leatherbird.

If anyone cops to carrying illegally in this forum, and some a$$hole of a DA manages to:
A Figure out you incriminated yourself in a forum
B:track down your forum posts and
C: use it against you in court, with a judge allowing it

THEN whomever posted that admission of supposed guilt probably did something very foolish to get into that situation. Or the prosecutor is a real pr!ck. I may or may not carry concealed fixed blades here in California but if I ever got caught allegedly doing so my blade forums posts would be the last of my worries.
