Until covid hit I used to carry the same knife during work days, when I was in our capital studying. When I came back home for the weekend I'd switch knives out more frequently. Currently I change my mind a lot, up to 4 or 5 times a day, but usually I'd stick with the same throughout the day, so that's what I voted for.

Being in the military I usually have some sort of modern folder clipped to my pocket, during the day, and usually a traditional in the pocket. But on days I only have a modern I usually swap it out immediately when I get home for a traditional. So I suppose about half the time I end up swapping knives around. I don't like carrying my nicer traditionals to work.

Most of the time I only carry one a day. Sometimes I’ll switch it out if the task before me is better served by another knife.
Recently though, I’ve been carrying a couple in my pockets on the odd day when I feel like it and thinking about large/small, fixed/folder and traditional/modern pairings more and more - not that there’s anything wrong with that…

For me it's the same knife or pair of knives for a week or more at a time.
If something arrives in the mail I will switch.

I seldom change knives during the day, unless there's a task that requires a different blade. Usually there's a modern locking knife clipped to LF jeans pocket, and a Wenger Pocket Tool Chest attached to Photon Freedom LED light in my watch pocket.

I'm now retired so switching out to different knives, several times a day, gives me something to do. I can't wait 'till tomorrow...

I voted for same knife all day long. Usually I grab one knife in the morning and carry it till I go to bed. However once in a great while I’ll swap it for a different one when I get home from work. (Maybe I grabbed that big Waynorth 86 in the morning and it’s pulling my shorts down by 6pm? Ha.) Sometimes I’ll deliberately swap my knife for another, usually on a Saturday if I’m working on something and feel like I need “more knife,” as I tend to prefer smaller single spring designs.

I guess I’m in a posting mood today and this is the best thread for this post.
Pretty sure I responded that I “carry” the same knife all day, and I usually do, but when I sit down to relax I get out my knife “travel” box and put several knives in it to fiddle around with. It’s actually a cigar travel box but it works great for knives too. My box for this morning looks like this.3F5506A9-544D-4FA7-8DD9-29B547C5B156.jpeg
The two on the right are pretty much always in there or in my pocket. There is always a Cadet of some color in there because they are great cigar knives. The other vary from day to day. 😊

Pretty cool idea, Todd! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

I think I need to look for two of them.
In answer to John's original question, I usually switch out my knives on Monday, and no other days, since I typically follow a weekly rotation schedule. But the schedule assigns me 14 knives each week, and I have 4 knives that I ALWAYS carry (and some weeks I'll carry a couple of "free choice" knives, too). So some knives end up in my pockets, and some in various compartments in my backpack, and some in a fanny pack that I either wear or stick in the backpack. A couple of boxes like the one Todd posted would be an excellent organizational aid!! 🤓 😁 :thumbsup:

I have been switching out more often since covid and working from home. I get to be around my collection more so it’s easy. When I go out for the day I normally pick one and a SAK.

I'm not disciplined enough to try that.
Same here. I really enjoy the process of making up my mind the day of, and choosing which knife to pocket. I typically only carry one per day but change it daily. Often times I swap knives when I get home from work. Then on the weekends it’s a bloodbath. Always fiddling with different traditionals.

Generally speaking I grab my knives in morning and that is usually the pairing for the day
