how many ???

Now, he' sending me a 440.00 knife as a gesture of his magnaminity I guess, he gets the other knife back, PLUS the ivory I paid 170.00 extra for and, foolishly, trusted him to pick out.

What you have just stated, I believe is the real tragedy here. Did he make 12,000 knive?.....Who cares! The point is he clearly did not treat ONE customer properly and now you Mr. Falor are teh only one payinig the price. He was pointed to this thread by someone kind enough to give the man a chance to defend himself, and yet he still never responded at all, regarding the real issue of why this man's name/reputation has been acknowledged in the first place.
I believe the only solace you are likely to receive in this matter now lies in letting as many people as you can know exactly what happened, and under what circumstances. I would start with every forum known and go from there to the ABS, to every popular monthly publication, and then proceed to all of the suppliers of his videos. This may not be the proper approach, but I know that I for one, would feel a whole lot better.:D That's just me though, and I am a very vengeful person once unjustifiably crossed. It will very likely NOT make the two hundred bucks you were cheated reappear in your hands but, it might make you feel better about it.
Surely you still have the emails regarding the manner in which your problem escalated into what it is now??
Hard to dispute you for anything other than the victim here with his name on all of them.
PS Tell him you want the ivory you paid for shippe back to you!

Mr. Doyle, I have asked Mr. Carter to please return the ivory since I did indeed pay for it but I don't expect to hear from him. I have saved most of our correspondence and all my receipts. I suppose I should post this over in the GB&U area. I certainly NEVER had any desire to start anything--other than a good customer/maker relationship--with this guy but you're right, us old Jarheads don't take kindly to being treated like stupid fools especially when we have done NOTHING to deserve it. I'll post my last e-mail to him where I asked him if splitting the cost of the bad ivory would be acceptable. I even asked him to please let me know what WOULD be acceptable if this wasn't and told him, for about the tenth time, that I had the utmost respect for his work and him as a person and that I wanted to ensure we BOTH walked away with no hard feelings over this. For that I was told I should be grateful he was even agreeing to give me the 440.00 White Crane and that I should have known that ivory is prone to cracking. Then he ended by telling me not to respond since he was removing me from his customer list. Jeesh! The guy is a piece of work to say the least. At least I have the White Crane now--which I do like--however I will probably sell it on principle. Thanks for your input on this as well as everyone who responded to my original thread in this forum. I will get out of here now and leave this area to the rightful members. Best Regards--Jim SEMPER FI
