How Many?

Thanks HOGS.
Jerry, come out with some more super-cool Busse designs! That'll get this place jumpin! ;):D

No! I'm already depressed over the current ones I can't afford. All my Infi is cowering in some corner fearing for its life. They all know of "The One" I would never sell... that got sold. My Ruck and my NMFBMLE once chopping friends now hate each other because of the redundancy between them.

I'm down to 5 Hogs and 2 Rats. I'm thankful though for the 7 Bussekin I own. I'm surprised to see some of the familiar names around here have fewer than I thought.

I've never been much of a collector, at this point i've owned around 20 busses, but have never owned more than 4 at a single point and time. I generally buy one, beat the hell out of it, see if it does what I need it to do, if not, then sell it at a loss.

Ideally i'd own one in every size range and be happy with it, the b11 is my chopper, but I would probably like one heavier chopper. The KZII is out of my price range on what i'm willing to pay for a factory released coated blade. I'll probably end up with an FFBM again. I wouldn't mind another HOGFSH either. I am really considering a thick game warden and another CG ASH-1 though. I've got too many things I'm interested in currently. I've sold knives for Camera equipment, and there's a rifle I want, so knives go on the backburner

Have a Boss Jack with buy brown kydex sheath for sale. Really don't want to sell it at all but need $$ for something else. It is the Boss Jack proto double cut version from KC.

It's only been lightly used and has a few scratches here and there from kydex and minor use. The knife has been convexed and is very sharp.

Looking for 400, now 380 shipped and paypalled would consider a basic 11 + cash as well.

Lets see the BJ was 267 at KC. Selling at 380 even with sheath after using and sharpening doesnt seem like much of a loss:confused:

I never had a huge collection.
The only ones I sold were ones I bought for practical purposes, that didn't work the way I wanted them to.

The rest I'm keeping.

I've never sold a single busse.

I bought the BATAC and the GW from the store, traded the BATAC for ASH-1 CG, Traded the ASH-1 CG and GW for Custom shop HOGFSH, traded that for my grail Mr. Mojo LE. Then bought the UG, waiting for my B11 to arrive from the ganza. Also scored the SwampWarden from the exchange which is suppose to be here today or tomorrow.

I really miss the ASH-1, and I never even seen a mistress in real life. There is a m8 here who offered to hold one for me until I can come up with funds or sebenzas to trade him, and I've been trading my folders ever since, yet to score CRK. Oh well, I'm broke but I'm not selling a single one of my Busse Kin knives.

What the hell!?

I bought and sold an Urban Grudge, because it was not what i really wanted. Also bought and sold a BJ proto to finance my Gladius, and because i already have a knife that size that im not afraid to use.....My SJ, that i will NEVER sell.

267 plus shipping, plus shipping to me from my proxy which ended up being 300 to me.

43.50 for the sheath, shipped. Now we're at 343.50 total cost in my end. Factor in priority shipping with sig confirmation and insurance + paypal fees and we're getting near the cost.

Now lets go further and figure in gas to the post office (I have a v10 truck that gets EIGHT mpg and live in the middle of nowhere with the post office no where near my house) and packing material, tape etc and the time it takes me to get to the post office we're pretty much at the cost I charged. If you'd like to go further, the knife was a user (barely used with the only real markings from sheathing) that had an off centered tip and horrible edge, i'd say the sharpening for a user knife would be a valued improvement for a high mirror polished convex edge that is far more effective than stock.

So yeah, I'm pretty sure I didn't make a profit on that one. I'm also not one to go to a show to buy 20 thousand dollars worth of knives and try and make 40 thousand off it, they aren't an investment for me. I've lost a good amount of money buying and selling knives. I don't know why my comment offended you so much.

Trust me I've tried, I think everyone who was selling a mistress during my mad trade rush has gotten an email fro me. But no bites. I don't regret the Mojo, but who knows maybe I'll trade B11 for one, or something.

The B11 is basically a Mistress. ;)

This aggravates me as well. Its more out of jealousy, but what can you do. I wish these knives were appreciated more for their usefulness rather than their value. I know one dictates the other... but their horded like they're bars of gold, and then us guys that can only afford (and use the sh*t out of) one every six months, pay through the nose. Seriously... if you have 72 Busse knives, how can you POSSIBLY appreciate each one as much as I love my one BM that I forfeited a mortgage payment and food for my kid for, that hangs on my hip every week end?

/rant

Who cares? I've paid a lot more than original value for several Busses in my collection, and I was HAPPY TO DO IT! I've never forfeited a house payment though! I'm sure atleast you...er...your wife fed the kid.... :D

no knife is worth that. you can use a sharpened rock if you have to, your kids safety always comes first regardless of how much you have to do without. Now, barely squeezing in a busse purchase into a tight budget - that can be worthwhile, though frustrating and difficult in the months following.

being frustrated at people who have a capital and who try to make money on something you want will always be frustrating, but it does serve a purpose in the case of busse's production set up. The knives are produced on a per order basis (save for special runs for blade etc). If a guy orders 20,000$ kz2's (40 of them) - there are now 40 more kz2's in existence that otherwise would not have been. even if they cost more they exist.

Guys who buy a crap load of knives from busse at every show and production run to turn around and sell them when they are no longer available at busse help to keep busse combat as a company thriving. buyers with capital do serve a valuable purpose even if you get frustrated at them for trying to make money off of you.

10 keepers that cover my basics as users.
1 on the block.
I think I'll stick with what I have but there are two I regretted selling and may jump if they become available at a decent price.

Kool-Aid has worn off a bit but I love my few keepers! You can't not like how INFI performs in hard use hot or cold.

Yeah, he got over it. It builds character. :D

I'm exaggerating. It just seems (to me) that you appreciate something more when it was difficult to obtain. I'm not complaining... just venting. Like I said, its out of jealousy. I'd do the same thing if I could.

HOGS--- When we moved to our new home in the woods, we downsized. We wanted a simpler life. Part of the downsize was to be content with a few very good knives. ;)
This is what I did. I have ONE good pistol. ONE good rifle and a few good knives.

Let's not lose sight over what it means to be a HOG guys .... taking the pi$$ out of someone who is a regular contributor whether because of a small number of knives owned or whether they rotate and lose money is'nt what it's about here .... never was .... if you use them or collect them and you share your knowledge of what you know and help others to gain what you yourself learned from others .... that's what it is all about ....

It is'nt about numbers .... it's about knowledge .... ;)
