How Many?

I'm exaggerating. It just seems (to me) that you appreciate something more when it was difficult to obtain. I'm not complaining... just venting. Like I said, its out of jealousy. I'd do the same thing if I could.

I've always found use makes me appreciate something more than anything else. I don't have a very good concept of money, this last year I officially dipped into the federal poverty line, but I'm not struggling as much as that would imply. I've owned and used a canon 5d with the best set of L series lenses, I've owned 2$ folders and 2,200$ fixed blades. The ones I remember and love the most are the ones I used the most, price being irrelevant.

When I moved down to a canon xti, and then down to an lx3 the value from the image quality wasn't a loss for me, the transition to less expensive gear was a huge benefit because I use my lx3 way more than either of those because it's portable. All that matters to me is that i'm willing to use it, I try to get the highest quality I can afford but it all comes down to use. I'd love to be able to just buy them because they are pretty, and I will likely do just that if my finances ever allow it.

It is'nt about numbers .... it's about knowledge .... ;)

I've never been much of a collector, at this point i've owned around 20 busses, but have never owned more than 4 at a single point and time. I generally buy one, beat the hell out of it, see if it does what I need it to do, if not, then sell it at a loss.

Me too....I consider the money I've lost "Rental Fees":o:rolleyes::D

Stump

...I won't mention the "rental" fees I've spent on custom/modified guns.

Let's not lose sight over what it means to be a HOG guys .... taking the pi$$ out of someone who is a regular contributor whether because of a small number of knives owned or whether they rotate and lose money is'nt what it's about here .... never was .... if you use them or collect them and you share your knowledge of what you know and help others to gain what you yourself learned from others .... that's what it is all about ....

Bingo! My sentiments exactly, Peter.  ;)

So what was this thread about... oh yeah, how many we've let go. I sold a BOSS Jack proto this weekend to help fund my grail. An original run convex grind .25 FSH with the ergo logo and standard bruiser slabs... I'll post up better pics when it shows up. Thing is, the dcbb/black linen FSH I got from Peter will be on the chopping block as a result which in this case is 1 in, 2 out.

Wrong, wrong, wrong!!! It's about Clark Bars and Coors. If you don't believe me, ask the venerable Amy-0! :D

I agree 100%. That's basically where my sentiments come from. I can relate more to a guy that owns 3 (4,5,6 or 7 even) great users that cost him blood sweat and tears to obtain. Even if they were $1K a piece, no complaints here as long as he/she gets every penny of value out of them. He is in the game for different reasons than the other Busse fans that spend thousands on knives they'll never use, with the intention of turning a profit. Some do both, and I don't consider either, or a combination of, as a negative at all.

There's a huge divide though between the two camps. You got guys that spend months in preparation and saving and researching for that one Busse all in the same place as the guys posting their 20 knife, Blade score. It is what it is. No disrespect or anything taken away from either side. If you (not you LVC) can see "value"/enjoyment in a pristine safe queen, so be it.

one of my dreams is to recreate clay puppingtons den/study room and adjoining weapons hallway.

Well, I'll confess that all I has let is an assault shaker. College, income and not growing up rich took it's toll. But I love my AS and it rides on my belt daily

i think i'm in the minority and own more busse's than I ever had before..not that I have a super impressive number....been on a SFNO kick and had more opportunity to buy them than ever before between the exchange and private deals.
I have never been in it for the money..mostly break even on my sales. I just like having a place where we all can share knives and knowledge and appreciate the hobby together ;)

all the best,

J

This aggravates me as well. Its more out of jealousy, but what can you do. I wish these knives were appreciated more for their usefulness rather than their value. I know one dictates the other... but their horded like they're bars of gold, and then us guys that can only afford (and use the sh*t out of) one every six months, pay through the nose. Seriously... if you have 72 Busse knives, how can you POSSIBLY appreciate each one as much as I love my one BM that I forfeited a mortgage payment and food for my kid for, that hangs on my hip every week end?

Easily! ...Thanxx for asking.

Hey Doug>KMHK! :):D
Hey... Jerry!!! I'm on a folder jag. C' mon!
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! :D

Why do people have this concern? If you want more Busses work harder and make more money and buy them - just like everyone else here has done!

I've only been around a few months and I enjoy reading what you ALLhave to say. I've probably learned more about knives and just life in general in the past few months than I have in my life. What's being said here doesn't sound like the community I've grown to enjoy so much--IMHO. It took me awhile to get the nerve to say this, but this doesn't sound like you guys and gals. I'll shut up now. I may have already overstepped or,knowing some of you, maybe it's one of your Ganza tricks on us unknowing piglets. "You have to be on Amy O's list to buy at the Ganza"--I fell for that one.

No, you're right. I be causin trouble. No need for it to go on any further. I didn't mean to nutty up chisel head... er Lycosa's thread.

Hey come on now... I'm not the only one that's complained about the flippers around here. I'm not concerned. Like I said, just INFI jealousy. Sorry.

17... I had 17 at one point (+ another 7 bussekin) and sold them for personal reasons. I just enjoy calling the kettle black. :D

On the Exchange no one has ever forced anyone to buy ;) The exchange is your friend or enemy depending on your choice Bro! Someone who sells the model you currently have at a very low price would equally concern you

I'm with you bro! If all of us only had one or two Busse's each then Busse would have gone out of business years ago. The reason they hold their value is because they are collectible. That's why you can use one, sharpen it and still sell it for a profit.
