What types & calibers? What kind of timeframe are you set up for? How is it stored? What are the intended uses - hunting (game types), defense? How does your area affect the selection?

Right now, zero, nada, zip. I am going to buy some .45 asap though to fill up the baby eagle I own. I have been eyeing shotguns and .22s also...

I have 500 rounds of .45, 2500 rounds of 7.62x39, 100 rounds of .357, 50 rounds of .38, 500 rounds of 12ga--100 of which is 00buck, and 100 of which is sabot slugs. All stored in Ammo cans with silica packs in it. Those are stored in a big old trunk by my bed.

I have plans for 2000 more rounds of 7.62x39, and at least 1000 more of .45, and at least 500 more .357 and .38.

Or maybe I have none.

I have a lot of 22 ammo but not much other ammo. I do However have quite a bit of reloading material. I could build a lot of ammo. Mostly used for Big game hunting. If they pass a 500 percent tax increase on ammo and components, it will really be high priced. It would not be a bad idea to stock up.

wow.. J.. that's a lot of ammo bro... i have a shotgun and no ammo...:o

though i do have a few hundred arrows...:D

OH!! I forgot I have 2 dozen arrows too!

Yeah, im not really worried bout the whole SHTF thing, Im more worried about ammo goin up so high that I cant enjoy my hobby. I am stocking up so I dont have to worry about that. It sounds like alot of ammo, but it really dont take up much space at all.

Just estimating but...

.45ACP - 400 rounds
.22 LR - 1000 rounds
.30-30 - 80 rounds
12 gauge - 300 rounds (including slugs, game rounds, RR 00 Buck)
20 gauge - 75 rounds (slug and game loads)

I'm a lot like j williams. At this point in time I have somewhere in the area of around.

800 .45ACP
200 9mm
100 12 Gauge shotgun shells. No slugs at this time though.
20 .454 Casull haha!
Maybe 50 .270
Maybe 80 Weatherby .30-378 (Ultra expensive! I reload these myself!)
Something like 1500 .22 Long Rifle
And in the neighborhood of 3000 7.62x39

I store them in locked ammo boxes inside a locked safe which is inside a locked closet in a locked room. I like j williams idea of the silica packs! I think I'm going to get some of those!

Great thread!

none. i wait for lists like these and when the SHTF i go and surprise people and help myself to their stockpile.

something to consider when advertising publicly......

I have around 25 bows in my shooting rotation, each bow has at least 2 dozen arrows made up for it. And I have a barrel of stump shooters and experimental arrows. At least 1000 made up arrows. and enough material to make a 1000 more.
About 20 bolts for my crossbow made up.
I keep around 100 lbs of pure lead for casting shot for my muzzle loader, and enough powder to make em work.
But when it comes to saying how much ammo I have for my firearms in a public forum My answer will always be "the legal amount"

You might be better off surprising the person that brags about having 6 months of food and water than someone like 88azazel or j williams ;):p .
a couple thousand rouns of 7.62X39 isn't something to toy with. Especially if they've been practicing.

I'd say somewhere around 700 rounds of .22LR ammo. One full block and an almost empty box :o. I have a box of .270 (I think that is the caliber ) but no .270 rifle. I also have a few arrows, but I don't think they would help much against zombies :thumbdn:

First off i was being SARCASTIC, as in funny hahahaha.

HOWEVER:

A) I'm well aware of what can happen on the business end of a firearm, when used by a proficent handler.

B) Publically advertising how much food/water/ammo/gasoline/diesel etc etc etc one has is NEVER a good a idea, no matter how good a shot that person might be.

I avoid talking about such perperation as i do not want it to be known by my neighbours that I have such items, particularly when they have done nothing to prepare for emergencies.

not ammuniton related, but several months ago when gas was mega high priced here in Canada, one of our tenants who i had talked with about preparing for disasters, tookit upn himself to help himself to my store of 22 liter x 6 jerry cans of gas.

that is why i do not like discussing "stockpiling" , even on the web. It is basic common sense. It really does'nt take much to locate a computer user.

back to the thread, my apologies to the OP of the thread for the hijack.
