I just wanted to get a feel of what the most the average person on bladeforums would spend on a knife, whether custom or production.

For me, I'd say probably around 700. Naturally, that falls under custom territory.

$200.00 to about $650.00 is about where my collection ranges. I do use all my knives so no safe queens for me.

i've grown out of the <$100 bracket. I am now buying less frequently but almost exclusively >$150. most recent purchase was $450.

Around 650 for a custom folder I'd actually use,for now.The number seems to go up every year or so.

I have a feeling if I get into the 800-1K+ range,I'd never carry or use them. They'd just sit in a safe or display case.I hope it doesn't come to that,as I like to carry & use what I buy.

always over 100 usually except my SAKs, and under 500.00 99% of the time

$100 or less is where I feel comfortable. But I am also a college student who is strapped for cash.

I don't think that I could push myself past $400 and that would be for a large custom blade. I've never needed to spend more than $200 to get what I wanted. For now anyway.

well the most I've spent is $400. but I'd say generally I'm comfortable at $150-$200 range.

The right custom maker making the right knife design with the right materials FOR ME, I would gladly spend $1000 +.

For a user, not more than about $200. For some species of collectible, the limit starts where my discretionary budget ends (which at this point would be $300-$400.)
