how much are YOU willing to spend on a knife? Just curious.

If I go above $80, the boss starts to give me a hard time. Luckily, I don't have very expensive taste and am able to satisfy my sharp tooth for around $60+.

Lately I've been in the $175ish range, the most I've spent was $220 for the M4 Military, followed by the s90v para, so right now about $250, though I want to eventually get an SMF.

I'd spend up to $250, but anything over $50 requires research, and anything over $150 just isn't happening if I can't see it in hand first. I don't think I'll be getting a custom knife until my finances improve. :)

So far, $236 + shipping is my max. That's what I paid for my ZT0300. I also paid $200 for my ZT0551. I've also paid between $100 and $200 for various Spydercos, Kershaws and Benchmades. I still haven't gotten up enough nerve to spend more than $236 yet. Maybe if an opportunity to snag a Hinderer XM-18 should present itself, then I guess that would be my new max. ;)

But usually, I try to stay below the $100 mark and I'm even more comfortable in the $50 range. Some truly great knives for the money can be had here like the Kershaw Skyline, Kershaw OD-1, Buck Vanatge Pro and Spyderco Tenacious.

3-4 hundred unless it's an exceptional piece. 99% of my knives are users so I always keep that in mind.

I got a mental barrier at 600.00$ for a user.

I once lied to myself that if I increased the amount paid for a knife I would just slow down the purchasing... sadly, it didn't work that way.

My normal budget is around 80.00 to 150.00
Some time maybe higher, but generally that is it.
I have found some knives that I like in the 50.00 to 75.00 range though too, such as CRKT M series, Kershaw Cyclone, and some others.

I've spent north of $400 but now things are tighter. Most knives now are $150 or less.

I've never spent more than $90 on a knife. If i really like a knife I'd probably spend up to $130.

When it's over 300$ it makes me wince a little. I like to beat the crap out of my knives but when it's over that price tag I tend to be a lot more easy on them. I guess it's just psychological  The worst thing is that I really don't mind buying 3 or 4 knives at the same time and spend a 1000$.
I hope my wife never reads this :D

I prefer to spend in the $300-$500 range most of the time. I find diminishing marginal utility that I'm not willing to pay for beyond that price range. I've gone much higher for the right knife, but the knife would have to be made of unobtanium for me to go above about $3500.

I'm a 23 year old grad student. When I buy knives with my hard-earned (and hard to save!) personal spending money, I prefer to get high-quality knives. I won't spend less than $100 on a knife, and won't spend more than $450 on a knife. The most expensive I've ever bought was an Umnumzaan, and I ended up having to give up buying knives for six months after that.

I'm willing to own ONE expensive (~$600) knife, TWO $400 range knives, and the rest $150-250 knives. Yes, I'm this specific about my collection. This is due to the fact that if I own multiple $600+ knives, I feel they are going to waste not being used or carried.

I used to think that the more I pay, the better the product will be. However, after spending hundreds of dollars I realized that "better" for me is not necessarily "more expensive". I sold all my expensive knives and now I try not to spend over $300. Even to spend over $150, I need to debate it for a long time, and it has to be something "special". Each of my favorite knives now don't cost over $120, and I've got more expensive knives.

I topped out at around $360 and still have no regrets on that one but I think further purchases I'll try to keep under $150-$175 if possible.

Well it was always around $40-50... then it jumped to $100 and now after that the $400 I just spent this week doesn't seem so bad.
Just like after buy my first $100 flashlight... $200+ doesn't hurt so much.

Most Ive ever spent on a user was $720. Overpaid but I had to have it :D:thumbup:
