how much are YOU willing to spend on a knife? Just curious.

At this point in time, 100.00 has been my limit. As it has been said, there are a lot of good knives to be had under the 100.00 mark IMHO. That will soon change once I get into the ESEE stuff.

For absolute perfection(fit and finish, Rc 60+ steel, Ankerson's Category 1 edge holding or better, corrosion resistance of S30V or better)? Probably just under $1,000.

$300 is probably the cap for me on productions. For a custom (haven't gotten one YET) i'd be willing to spend $500-$600 IF the knife had only maybe one or nothing I truly didn't like about it for whatever reason...but i'd have to save up a bit. :D

I mostly buy folders, and use everything I buy, so my range is between $500-$600 on the rim and out the door.

Lately I have found several knives that have offered lots and lots for around the $200 mark. The $500-$600 knives are few and far between.

I think if I get into the $750-$1000 price point it's a safe queen (more exotic materials, etc.). I won't use it - and that breaks my rule #1 - I use everything I buy.

I have looked at and fondled William Henry knives for years - but could never bring myself to buying one. All the ones I like are north of $1000.

I spent $300 on a single knife once. I have since learned I'm happier with three one-hundred dollar knives. I see so many beautiful custom knives here, some costing multiple thousands of dollars, but I look at them like I would a Ferrari or Porsche. They are nice, but they are something I will never be able to own.

It's all relative. A good deal on an old sword designated "a national treasure of Japan" would certainly be considered. ;)

Not over $75

I am too young to be legally employed so the big bucks are few and far in between.

:'(

Buy the best you can afford, take care of it, and SAVE it. I still have many knives I bought when I was a teenager and some are now worth much more than I originally paid.

i have spent 2000 in the past. not sure if i'll do it again.

for a daily user prolly 4-500.

I've never spent more that $500 on a single knife. But, I have a decent amount of knives at close to this price point. Some customs included. But I generally allocate a certain amount to knives every couple of months, and I find myself usually getting k Ives in the $100-150 range so I usually spend more than I should on the less expensive knives. Not leaving funds for the big purchases. Although next month will be different. February 1st will be Sebenza Day

260.00 is the most that I ever paid and that is likely the only 200 plus knife that I will ever buy. To many good knives around 100'

I think the most I've ever spent on a knife was about $350 -- and then I was afraid to use it and ended up swapping it for a knife that was worth about a hundred less, but it suited me better.

Typically, I don't feel right spending over $250 on a knife that I intend to carry and use, and I can't afford to be a collector. I'm more of an "accumulator." Nearly every knife I own cost me under $200. Of course, many of them were pre-owned.

I try not to go over $150 to $200, but after my BM Skirmish, SAR 3 and Spartan Harsey, I've gone well above. And the more Busse I see here on the forums, the more I want :p

Until a month ago I had never spent over $75 for a knife mostly spyderco, kershaw, and sak. But now that I have spend apx $500 for a custom, and have no regrets, I feel that for the right knife I would go up to maybe $650. However I plan to focus more on the $100-$200 range and really try to round out my spyderco collection.

I should say I justify spending up to 700ish because I don't start collections. I may have a handful or even less than that. Usually, if I buy something, I'll sell the thing it replaces.

My range is close to 100 dollars, but usually a lot less. Recently bought a Spyderco Lum from a fellow user on the forum.

I ordered a Yuna a couple of months ago, that one will be about as high as I'll push it for something I intend to carry/use. $750+
