How much knife for hiking

Just curious, and I am asking for a friend of course.:) Don't you think that a Bear Grylls ultimate whatever is OK predominantly for a campsite? I mean,, it's understandable somebody to enjoy to make a show for themselves by pretending of being a no-nonsense outdoorsman. But, once the same person hits a trial, especially a packed one, then an exposed to the others tactical fixed blade will look to some extent ridiculous, much more ridiculous and kind of annoying compared with the campsite? So, the same camper probably is better to leave the cool tactical stuff in the tent, and to go on a day hike just with one Opinel #6?

That’s it. After 9 pages of reading, I’ve decided for all the rest of my hikes/outing”, I will carry ALL my knives. I’ll have “high weight exercise,” “knife preparedness” and “the cool factor” all covered. They may not get me out of a jam…but if I die, at least I’ll be able to admire them all. 😂🤣😂🤣

First news headline to read…”Man dies lost in wilderness with WAY too many knives…what a crazy nut.”

I saw the other thread about drowning in the national parks, if you have all your blades, you will sink like a rock. Even if you have floatees on. ;)

At least you'll be building up your legs and cardio at the same time, a win win. 👍

This is plenty of fixed blade for me on most hikes. It rides in my pack.

S110V Native is in my pocket on this trip. I do almost always keep a folder around this size in my pocket. Two knives is a little excessive in my mind but I do like having one on my person at all times. Fixed blades just almost always ride in my pack so a folder in pocket makes sense to me.

This might explain why drowning is so prevalent ?
