How much snark could a snarksnark snark if a snarksnark could snark snark?

Freakin' hot and muggy. 92°, feels like 110°. Ick. Looking forward to fall and winter.

Just ordered 1050 8" x 8" x 16" concrete blocks (14 pallets, 75/pallet). Will be delivered either Friday or Monday. The I can start putting together the next round of raised beds in my garden. This latest addition will be 7 - 4ft x 20ft beds 2 blocks high. As they fill up, I'll eventually add a third row. I built a couple of concrete block beds and a couple out of landscaping timbers. After 4 years the landscape timber versions are splitting, falling apart and generally a pain in the butt to repair. Concrete blocks are the only way to go. Heavier, more expensive to built, but will last forever (at least for my remaining lifetime:D).

That project will only take about 500 blocks, but I filled out the truck for a full load as the rest will be used to build a veggie cleaning station / canning kitchen / honey extraction room / emergency storm shelter. Will need more down the road, but a full truck means they waived the $150 delivery fee. That dropped the second 500 down from 97¢ to 63¢.

We can't really dig storm cellars at my place because the water table is only about 8 to 10 feet below ground level and the ground heaves enough that any concrete walls crack and you end up with an underground swimming pool, unless you drill piling holes down the the rock layer. Not easy or cheap. So my plan is to build a concrete walled building about 10 ft x 28 ft on an old slab we have, with metal shutters and a concrete roof. Will beat the hell out of what we currently have, which is essentially nothing as our house has no real "interior rooms" as the house is 156 ft long and 1 room wide - a "real" ranch style house, not what they throw up in a subdivision and call it "ranch" style.

Well I can't get this phone to quote y'all now...

But I got a good amount of work done before the rain hit so I'm happy..

My father is going to borrow a mini backhoe from work so I can cut in the new driveway. It wasn't happening by hand that's for sure lol, the old driveway measures out over 200 feet long... The new one will be about half the length and much straighter.

Did get a load of firewood all stacked up and made an area in the shade to split wood. Got one fire pit dug out and cleaned up and moved the big one over some.

Removed an old satellite pole... Hardest job of the day. I think they buried it 6 feet and used a couple bags of concrete to keep it there for good... So they thought...

I had to dig all around it, then use a 6 foot chisel bar and break the concrete all up to get it out the ground. Fun fun.

Not so bad really when you look over and see your yard coming together like you want it to!

I'd agree, but I have a pool.....I won't lament the end of summer, but I ain't "looking forward" to cold weather. I know what you mean, tho....too much northern Europe/German blood to be comfortable in the heat. This is why I wear shorts pretty much from March thru December.

Also not so bad when no one is shooting holes in your bedroom window! Good onya, WW. Must be freakin' awesome to be home.

Couldn't take it any longer. Had to buy a 15. Checked my favorite store and found them for WAY cheaper than I was expecting, so bought 4 of them. Might keep one stock, and will be making my own handles for most of the others.

Boy, when your dam breaks.....look out! 4? Of course, I have 3....but they weren't all purchased at once.

So, maybe some figured maple for one? They sure do look purty with wood.....scales.

Were you wearing a pastel blazer? If not try again.

I have a Chevy Blazer. That's close enough, right?

Just ordered a kydex BK4 sheath off the bay from trailbum. I really don't dig the open back sheaths that most folks make so when I saw his I jumped on it.

Son and his g/f sold their house, and are moving to Colorado. Lucky bums. I hate being stuck in this crap hole I live in.
