How often do you buy a new knife?

If I don't add something new to the stable at least once a month I start to get fidgety.....if its a bad month and money is tight, well, I can always grab a Condor chopper for 50.00 or something and feel like I've added something substantial to the collection. On better months it might be a Becker with micarta scales....on a really good month I'll grab something in the 300.00 range that I've really been eyeing, or several lesser priced knives....

I tend to buy by style as the mood suits me.... I just got off a Karambit kick and bought 7 in the last month ranging from 50.00 to 150.00 each...

Before that I was on a Kukri kick.....added 4 to my other 3 or 4 in the collection....

Feeling like my next spree will be neck knives....

always something to get even if its a 20.00 knife....I love blades of all shapes and styles...never been one to see more value in a 300.00 blade than a 30.00 blade, they are all knives and unless they are cheap plastic handled mystery steel folders from China I appreciate them for what they are. I enjoy my Boker gnome for 25.00 as much as I do my Cold Steel Espada XL at 250.00+....if I ever won the lottery I'd need a warehouse for my collection.....

ahah this is awesome right here! Kinda makes me wanna go buy one! I have that same feeling about winning the lottery it would be amazing but so many knives would be coming my way. Iv been wanting to get some karambits latly, one for my EDC at least.

I tend to purchase a new blade mostly based on need. As such... One every year or two?

I see things I want to buy of course, but so far have been able to keep the impulse under control.

I still buy a knife two or three times a year, despite my having said I would stop.
I'm just not buying ten knives a year like I used to.

On modern folders, I tend to buy based on perceived "need" with a little "want" involved. With traditional slip joints/folders, it is almost always purely "want" and not need. Not sure why that is, but it seems to be a factual representation of my buying habits.

With fixed blades, it is almost always "want" at this point in my life. I find they quite appealing, but have little use for them outside the kitchen. So, the need part is pretty easy to satisfy.

I bought a Tasman se and Dragonfly this year. The Dragonfly cost me $1.99 after a $50 gift card, which was very nice! Might pick up an Endura before the year is out, but we'll see. I have a difficult time parting with money these days. :D
I did have my eye on several models this year, however, I just can't justify any of them. I don't collect knives, I collect $20 bills. :p If I can't justify it, I won't buy it.

About one a year I guess. I have enough folders so I just bought a BK&T Kabar BK15. My previous purchase was a Delica almost exactly a year ago. I'm trying to get my enjoyment from just using and sharpening my knives these days.

I used to be the same way but with a much, much, smaller budget than you have. I ended up with a bunch of budget knives that really did not meet my needs. Now I choose knives based upon need, function, and ergonomics. I am finding that I have better quality blades that I look forward to working with and not something that I am have to use because it is what I have. Plus I have a greater sense of enjoyment every time I pick up a folder. I still love some of my older budget knives though.

I find that even though I still sometimes buy in spurts, I don't normally purchase a blade up out of the blue like I used too. I wait and think about it. It took me almost a year to buy my last camp knife (Benchmade 162 Bushcrafter).

I usually buy one here and there and keep a look out for sprints of the models I like. When I usually get into trouble is when I buy a knife and like it then I have to have one of every color/steel type. Hopefully I don't make any new knife discoveries for awhile lol.

Whenever something strikes my fancy.

Welcome!! :)

I usually get the unbearable "itch" after two months without.I gotta get one.It could be a cheap one or a pricey one,but I gotta get one.

I have recently sold a lot of my folders and all my higher end knives to buy slipjoints. Don't know what gave me the bug but I have bought over 30 of them this last month. A lot of them are old knives but it sure has been fun.

I'm right there with ya. 33 in just a few weeks, I'm on an epic bender. I need to sell a couple guns...for more knives!

I usually buy one when I can't resist any longer. It's not like I don't already have a lot of knives. These days I'm trying to reduce the numbers but that can be hard to do. However if I sell 2 or 3, it makes it easier to justify buying a new one I can't resist.

Whenever I find one that I really want to check out...
Sometimes, I go months without buying one. On occasion, I have received three in my mailbox on the same day.
I do not buy/sell/trade nearly as often as I used to...thank goodness. I'm pretty happy with my present carry...

I stopped getting productions last year. Being a lefty it drove me nuts not being able to get exactly what I wanted in a knife outside of getting a fixed blade, or an Axis lock Benchmade.
So now I only buy new knives when I get the call from the maker telling me it's ready. Last one was in April. I'll probably be getting 3 in about a 4 month span starting in November-ish. After that, nothing until next September.
It all depends on when my name comes up on a makers list

On average throughout the years, probably every 2-3 weeks. However, almost as many get sold, traded, or gifted throughout the year, so the collection stays at a manageable number and size.
