I have 3 "sets" of EDC knives.
The first set is what I have on me when I leave the farm, as I must meet certain State laws for public carry -
A pair of Kabar 3/4 Shorties fixed blades, a 1260 and a 1255
A Kabar rigging knife in my LFP
A Buck 501 in my RFP
A Kabar BK11 in my LRP
A Pro-Tech TR4 clipped to my RFP.
The only changes to this are::
I will substitute a pair of KABAR 1232s if the shorties need sharpening and I haven't had time to spruce the shorties up.
I substitute a pair of Western L46-5s for September 11, October 15, October 17, and October 19.
My second set of EDCs are my "around the farm" EDC knives -
I don't carry the Pro-Tech around the farm. I replace 1 or more of the fixed blades with larger, "illegal for public carry" blades, simply because what I do every day changes and so do the knife requirements. These fixed blades will chosen from the following, depending on the tasks of the day, -
Kabar Becker BK9, Kabar 1217/1281, or 1 of 25 (or more) machetes scattered around the farm - I have a "machete/axe/bow saw/lopper/chopping hoe" combo in every building on the farm just so I have what I need when/where I need it - Home place Barn, Old Home place Barn, Lower Farm Barn, Equipment Shed, Workshop (at least 8 in various states of maintenance), Garage Apartment, Tractor Storage shed, Tool Shed, Garage, as well as a machete behind the truck seat, in each vehicle trunk (2), strapped to the tractor roll cage, and 5 scattered around the house.
My 3rd set of EDC knives are my EFOC, "every formal carry occasion", i.e., for church, funerals, weddings, quincieneras, reunions, or any time I am REQUIRED to wear a suit.
