How often do you cut things with your EDC knife?

... I even carry a knife in my "pajama" pockets. Every hour something is going under my knife .

(Pajama in quote marks because they only serve to carry my knife from shower time to bed time :D)

I thought I was the only one who does that :D
I even keep a vic classic in my pocket, because I never know if I may get up to go to the bathroom and might need to cut open the case of TP to get a new roll out or something like that. I have actually gotten up in the middle of the night for something and needed a knife to use a knife.

I use a knife multiple times a day, I fucking hate scissors. This thread is unbelievable, you can't make this shit up! o_O

I always carry either a multitool or SAK (or both), so there's pretty much no time I don't have immediate access to scissors and I use them a lot. Still use my knife (either one on the SAK/multitool or a separate locking folder) every day. Some jobs a scissors is better for and some a knife is better for. Get an SAK with scissors and always have the right tool for what you're cutting in a compact package.

Every day, most of the time the knife is in my hand almost automatically as I recognized something in need of cutting. If I am awake and in free America I have a knife on me or close by.
I even go out of my way to cut stuff. Waiting on the wife, I will sit on the porch pick up a stick and whittle.

I can't tell you how many things I cut open that I could probably just tear. Hot cocoa packets, kool-aid packets, bags of chips...ect it's a hell of a lot easier to cut them open then risk them tearing too much and ending up all over the place.
I am be going a little bit out of my way in cutting things that are meant to be torn open, but a knife makes easy work of things.

My EDC is a set of keys. It gives me 5 different serrated edges that I can open packages with, and I can also extend them between my fingers in a fistload for self-defense. Plus, I can legally carry them literally anywhere!

When I really feel ornery, I'll also carry a fork in my pocket. It makes a great improvised Kubotan, and I can use the edge in a rocking motion to cut things on a table when I need a plain edge.

Everyday. Some days a couple times. Other days many times.
I have a work bucket with Klein Electrical shears but I don't always have it around.
I always have a knife around.

I use my knife everyday to cut things, and have never had to use my knife in self defense. To me, it seems 10x more logical to carry a knife to cut things rather than self defense. And if something bad happens and my last resort is my EDC knife, then I have it. A gun or mace would be MUCH more useful to carry for self defense than a knife! I would carry one of those if I was worried about self defense.

1 How often do you use your EDC knife?

2 How often do you use your knife when scissors are not in the area?
Every day and multiple times a day. The only time I reach for a scissors to cut something is generally opening frozen vegie bags and don't want to mess up the zip to reseal the bag after using.

Self defense with a knife is not really on my radar. Sure it is always a possibility, but more often than not I just have a SAK in my pocket and they aren't much good for self defense.

This is bladeforums.com. So the post is how often do you cut things with your knife. This place is full of knife freaks. Frankly what would be expected for answers to the questions, whether someone uses their knife daily, every other day, once a week or whatever? Um, yup I gots a knife and I cuts things with it a whole bunch (whether one does so or not) as opposed to I gots me a knife but I never use it. So whaddya say? Do you join in and say I cuts things all the time or just not respond and move on to the next thread? No offense intended but I just don't get the point of these types of threads.

I don't need a pocket knife very often in my regular work-week. I carry one for convenience. Sometimes I use it several times in a day, sometimes I go a week without needing to use it. I use them more often around the house, for small tasks here and there. I use scissors when they are the right tool for the job, and kitchen knives when they are the right tool (like - preparing food in the kitchen). I don't carry knives that are suitable for defensive purposes. Mine are primarily small slipjoints.

Just about every day. But a more interesting story: We were invited to my daughter-in-law's father's birthday party. Since I didn't know him very well, I bought him a Kershaw Injection 3.0. Turns out he absolutely loves it. He carries and uses every day! He told her it was one of the best gifts he ever received. Another convert to the sharp side.

A dozen or so times daily. Cut string, rope, wire, zip ties, hose, dig with, scrape gaskets ect.

The only time I'm near scissors is in my kitchen with shears, which I use a couple times per week.

So I am curious how often do you use your EDC knife to cut things? Out side of a self defense knife I do not carry a blade because I legitimately do not cut stuff. If I need stuff cut scissors are almost always within the area or I can wait 10 minutes till they are. I am not saying anything against carrying knives for every day tasks. I believe you should be able to carry whatever you want whenever and where ever. Even if you are carrying around a tactical wheelbarrow. So I guess this boils down to two questions.

1 How often do you use your EDC knife?

2 How often do you use your knife when scissors are not in the area?

Thanks
So on a knife forum you ask how often we actually use our knives? Are you just bored? I mean YOU ARE ON A KNIFE FORUM! For the most part I would guess most of us use ours knive multiple times a day. I mean scissor might work to get a bat out of your pants but why ruin your pants? Isn't there a stuffed animal forum to troll?

Carry a fixed blade in my back with the rest of my EDC stuff to work. I use us it 4 or 5 times a week. Hey you get some med at the convenience store. You need knife to open it. lol

I don't like driving. I mean, I own a car (Toyota Corolla) and I drive it, but a car is just transportation for me. I don't really enjoy driving, and cars don't interest me beyond wanting them to be simple and dependable.

I think I'll join a car enthusiast forum, and ask if anyone there feels the same.
