How old are you 110 owners?

46 got my first Buck around 1977 off of the Mac Tool Truck. # 2, 3 and 4 in the late seventies # 5 early eighties and did just fine until I met you all and joined BCCI and just fell off the wagon all the way.

I'm 45 and my first 110 was on my 45th birthday. I've always carried pocket knives but now I'm hooked on the good stuff.

I don't have a bear rug but I do have my own hone.

hi every one this is my first post over here. I love buck 110's got my first when i was 16 and i am now 21 and still carry one often

I'm 26...I've had my 110 for 4 years now (xmas gift from my girlfriend).

Even though the 110 isn't really my style it has grown on me and I truly appreciate it's classic design and quality. Not only is it a damn good knife, the fact that it looks 'normal' keeps the police from hassling me about it, which is a huge bonus.

Funny, but I avoided buying a 110 again for a long time because I thought of them as the cliché of the knife world. Familiarity breeds contempt I suppose. Well, I picked one up again 2-3 weeks ago and...... I LOVE this knife ! I couldn't give a flying fart if it has laminated/stained wood and the steel wasn't formulated for the Mars Rover. My 110 looks great, has no play and locks solidly. I can't stop picking it up and opening it...... I carry it every day now and this is the knife that I will be using to gut my grouse this fall. I have other folders but my 110 is usually the one that I find in my hand.

I remember being envious of my buddy's 110 when I was in grade school. He had a good paying job on a dairy farm and had cool stuff like a 110 and a dirtbike.

When I finally got my money together in 4th or 5th grade I got some generic folding knife that was bigger than a 110 (hey that has to be better!). The blade broke within a year or so and it's still in the woods in western New York somewhere rusting away decades later. There was an important lesson there that I did not catch on to until years later.

34 got my first 110 when I was 31. When I was a teenager I looked at it disapprovingly on its "old-fashion" look.... imagine if I was "smarter" back then I would now having a 110 that is 15/16 yrs old, along with all the memories I'd have shared with it during those years of camping and fishing and hiking.. well some people say young people are naive. :grumpy:

Since I haven't contributed to this thread yet... I'm 50, found my first Buck knife :) in the early 70's. Was out trail riding in the woods of Maine. Arrived at a campsite where the fire pit was cold... I was with a couple of friends, I was the first to see the handle of a knife sticking out of the ground. I figured, it must be broken, why would someone leave it? I gently pulled it out of the ground, it was a Buck 118 IN PERFECT CONDITION. Bought a sheath for it and carried it for a couple of years, unfortunately that one is lost to history...

I've had a couple of other Bucks until 1990, I bought my first 110FG. Actually bought it as a gift to my girlfriend at the time. She turned out to be a pyscho and a stalker... glad I kept the 110 -- still have it today.:D

I'm 49 (for a couple more weeks) got my first Buck the hard way. Took it away from some body in a fight when I was 16, cost me 17 stitches and my spot on the football team. 2nd one I picked up at 21 in a poker game working offshore in the gulf of mexico. Still have the 1st gave the 2nd to my Brother. I' bought a bunch since the for gifts, one of my favorite working knives.

I'm 32, and got my first 110 earlier this year. I had 2 Bucklites and a few mini-buck's when I was younger. I got my 110 after I was looking through my grandfather's gun rack recently and found his old hunting knives. I cleaned up and sharpened his old no dot and 2 dot 110's and decided I needed one for myself. Bought a 2 dot off ebay the next week. I figured I had better get one that was as old as I am since I liked his so much.

Blub,
He scratched his initials into the brass so he could identify it later on if it was found to have been used in a crime. Standard procedure for items impounded by the police. Not nice for knife collectors though. :(
Mike

I don't buy it. I am not anti-law enforcement by any means, but cops like knives too. I would bet that he was fully intending to keep and carry the 110 in question. I have read a few posts about guys having nice customs and expensive auto's "confiscated" by police officers. I cringe at the thought of this happening to me....

I'm 59; 1st 110 was a finger grooved, elk stag handled custom from the Custom Shoppe back in 2002. Now I have over 120 Bucks (almost 50 - 110's). It just don't stop.....
That's 2 per month! I'd have a divorce to add to my collection of knives! :foot:

I'm 41 and got my first Buck (a Bucklite) from my dad when I was about 12, Nighthawk at about 18(?), then my Damascus 110V when I was about 23.

Jimmer,
I'm not saying it may not have happened, simply that it is not likely. Believe it or not, if something is placed in the property room at the police station, taking it for your personal use can cost you your job. I don't know too many cops that would risk it for the cost of a knife, no matter how cool it is. If he intended to keep it, he would most likely have simply put it in his pocket and taken it home. No need for the initials. (initialling items placed in the property room is a very typical means of identification to provide for a "chain of evidence") Ask any cops you know. I will bet they tell you something similar.

Missing my very first 110 to a MP.
And, I know it didn't get officially "confiscated" (turned in) as contraband.
Guess it's a good thing I'm not a Five-O. I wouldn't get any doughnuts. Bad Cop....no doughnut for you.

That's why "I like Mike".
