I turned 72 last week. I got my own Colonial Forest-Master when I was 10 and used it every day on the dairy farm where I grew up until I left for college. Then I rarely carried a knife until almost exactly 10 years ago when my wife gave me one she found that her dad had given her. I had fun cleaning it up and decided to start carrying a pocket knife again. I've probably acquired and average of about 25-30 knives per year since then!
My first knife:

My most recent 2 acquisitions (last week Tuesday, I officially opened these Christmas and birthday gifts):

I bought a Forest Master at the UK Sharp Show this year, its a cracking camp knive I would have loved it as a kid its good for adults to mind.

I'm 79 and have had a love affair with knives and guns - hunting and fishing since I can remember. Been a Buick fan boy since I saw their ads in Outdoor LIfe and Field and Stream in the late 50s, early 60s. I don't consider myself a collector because that denotes buying with a theme or something like that. Since the mid 80s I have been an accumulator and caretaker of many makes and styles.
Man, that 53 - I've been a fan for a while; but that's a whole other level of dreaming

*EDIT*. Oops - you said late 50s. I saw Buick and 50s, and my brain went to 53 Skylark

Congrats, John, it's a fine knife, even though it's inexpensive. In threads that ask what knife you'd carry if you could only keep one, I usually end up saying that I'd just stick with the Forest-Master I started with.

FWIW, there was a thread like this back in 2015:
https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/age-group.1295867/

It wasn't set up as a poll, though, so it was harder to keep track of the results. Dadpool Dadpool periodically posted an Excel graph that showed the ages everyone reported. Unfortunately, I went back to that thread and searched for those posts, and the graphics had been reduced to just little "Red X error icons".

I just took a look in the two spots that sheet might have been archived, but couldn't find it (sorry!). That was at least one PC and one hard drive crash ago, assuming I even held onto it past the lifespan of that thread. 😅

I’m 57. I got my first pocket knife when I was 5, and started carrying one daily to school in maybe 3rd or 4th grade.

I picked up a few knives here and there as a teenager and young man, but was content with just a few until about 6 or 7 years ago, when I got the idea to buy replacements for ones that had been lost or stolen in the past. I have since amassed an accumulation of budget-friendly traditional knives, but have never been a collector in the sense of having to get every variation of a particular model or brand or something.

I'm eighty-two. First experience with pocket knives was while hanging around and, subsequently, working in, my father's small town hardware store ca. early-mid 1950's. Lost interest a decade later but then purchased a Boker (USA) stockman to take on a camping trip in 1969. Started carrying that one regularly and have had a least one in my pocket continuously ever since.

I was born on a mountain top in Tennessee greenest state in the land of the free…I was raised in the woods so I knew every tree…kilt me barr when I was only three. Had to use a pointy stick cause my Ma wouldn’t let me have a real knife until I was five 😜. My birthday is on my profile page I’ll let you all do the math.😀

Thanks for taking the time to look! That's going above and beyond expectations.
(I'm still using the same laptop I had in 2015, but it's acting like I really ought to replace it VERY soon. o_O )
