My first kinfe was a Cub Scout knife. A gift from my dad when I was 7. I don't have the knife anymore, but my 7 year old grandson's first knife was a Cub Scout knife, gifted by me.
I've pretty much had a knife in my pocket everyday since I was 7. I'd guess I became a serious accumulator about 30 years ago, although I always had more knives then anyone I knew.

My affliction began in 1996 with this cheap Imperial that had already seen better days by the time I got it from my Opa (see the jack knife below, first from the top). I've strayed and accumulated all sorts since then, but I've always got an American slipjoint or lockback in my pocket.

69 in April. Born/brought up in Kenya - knives, spears, pangas, machetes, Sam Brownes and 303 Lee Enfields were part of life.

Dragged, kickin and screamin to UK as a kid, joined Cubs and later Scouts - any excuse to legitimately carry/use a knife in mamby-pamby UK..!!

Good morning everyone! I'm 55 years old. I can't remember how old I was when I got my first knife, or what knife it was. I know that I had a knife by the time that I started grade school, and my grandma used to give a pocket knife to all of the grandkids every year at Christmas. They were all traditional knives, mostly stockman type patterns. Just about every kid carried a pocket knife daily, and wore a watch!
I have always loved sharp things, and appreciate all types of knives and axes. I don't consider myself a "collector" in the sense that I'm looking for the whole run of every color and cover material. I buy a knife that interests me, and I tell myself "This is the one!" 🤣 Until I see the next one...

I'm mid 20s, while owning and using modern knives every now and then, my main stay is still an SAK. Staying with me for a long time.

My little brother is rocking his Opinels for nearly 20 years. He is not a knife guy, Opinel does everything he asked for.

I'm in my mid fifties and I've had a pocket knife since I was five. I got my first fixed blade when I was eight. I've carried either a pocket knife, a Leatherman or both for most of my life. I started collecting probably ten years ago but really notched it up in the last few years.

I was about 27 or 28 when I was contemplating acquiring another knife. But I already owned 25 knives and couldn't justify the need for another. That's when a little light bulb turned on in my brain; I can be a knife collector, and then there's no limit to how many knives I can accumulate! So now I'm 68 years old, and i have lost count of how many pieces of cutlery I own. Over the years my interests have expanded into axes and hatchets, tradesmen knives, scissors, bleeders, cleavers, surgical instruments, and more. If it has a sharp edge, I'm interested! T-A
