How robust is the BG-42 Military?

Sal, have you ever thought about making a Military model with a one-piece handle construction in G10 or carbon fibre ?
Think Scott Cook's Lochsa, but way lighter and easier to machine than titanium.

Also something of a Douk-Douk like handle, folded one-piece metal covered with G10 comes to mind.
With framelock, compression lock or ball-bearing lock.
Or even the elusive 'stop-lock', or is this one still in the works ?
:D

The Military BG-42 carbon scales is a great looking knife and well designed in my eyes. I couldn't let this one get away from me so I made sure I bought one this month before they are all gone. It is tough as nails and is in my EDC rotation.

The military is one of the best hiking and hunting knives I have ever carried. It is so light you forget that you are carrying it. My son say's why do you carry a sword!

I'm a little late to this thread but I have to join in because my experiences are so close to what the thread starter was asking about.

I was carrying a Manix for outdoor stuff like hiking, backpacking, ect. Then I got a CF Military, now I feel like I can leave the Manix at home 99% of the time. The Military is so much lighter yet seems to be plenty strong. I can carry it in shorts with no belt and not have it make them sag like the heavy Manix would make them do. Whenever your on the go, the Military is a better knife. If you are just camping but not hiking and moving around too much, the Manix is the better knife. There is room for both in my life but the Military gets more action than the Manix now.

The only fixed blade I will carry is a blade large enough to chop branches and small trees. I will carry a short machete or Kukri but I am not going to carry a 5" blade fixed knife. The Manix and Military makes all but the largest fixed blades obsoleat IMHO.

I say, get one of the CF Militarys and if you don't like it, you will not have any problem getting rid of it but my guess is, you will feel like me and it will take over most of the Manix's duties.
