How Sharp is the knife in your PSK???(Very graphic)!!!!!

you know the knife was so sharp, I didnt feel it, until my sandal filled with blood

Jeez man I just had lunch! :D

I bet you have a lot more respect for that knife now!

Rest and get better!

You are lucky. Hope you heal up quick. I remember a story knifemaker Frank McGowan told me of a knife that got grabbed by his buffer. Bounced all around the shop before sticking into the wall.

Thanks for the pics, though I almost lost my lunch.

I need pics/posts like these to come up once in awhile to remind me that all my toys are actually tools that require great attention.

Good lord that is a nasty cut. You'll get to brag about that for the rest of your life.

That's a nasty one cmgray. Thanks for the post. It reminds us all that you can never let your concentration slip when handling a sharp knife. Good luck on the recovery.

Got bit the same way myself, unfortunately i cut down into the muscle and hit tendons, which i found out when my toes wouldn't work after getting stitched up and the freezing wore off,had some major pain, went back to er,had another doc cut stitches out,go in and dig out some big clots, stitched back up went home, now my right foot looks messed up,muscles gone, can't walk on anything bare foot ,like a million needles jabbing into my foot,I used maxi pads to control bleeding, you were lucky you never cut deeper, heel fast man!

cmgray,

I have many scars on my body that would make you think I was an old knife fighter. I could invent many stories for them, but the only ones that are true are: "OW! I did it to myself again!!!!" I call them the "Knifenut Tattoos."

Sorry for your pain, and congrats on your hard-won trophy. ;) It really is better than a tattoo, I say! :D

Chicks dig scars! Better than a tat any day.

But, since I'm VERY married and no need to impress, I use my Silky saw much more.:D:D

OUCH!!! WOW...that sucks. I guess that afterall, you are really lucky, it looks like you had some power on the swing...you could have cut a joint or major artery. Thank GOD that you only suffered a flesh wound...it still sucks though.
My first major knife wound was when I was about 11, my mom bought me a swiss army knife and I was sitting on my bed using the scizzors, I lost my balance and stabbed myself in the ankle...right through the flesh above the heal.....it bled like crazy....hurt to walk for a bit as well.

Congrats on having the worst self inflicted knife wound pictured on a knife forum that I have seen! Hope it heals well

I'm going to guess that the other 4 stitches are absorbables inside the wound. They did a nice job w/ the closure. You will have a nice scar (less noticeable if you keep it out of the sun/sunscreen it when exposed over the next 9-12 months - the UV radiation can make some scars more prominent, in color & thickness).

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

(I've got a few of those as well, at least 5 have required sutures, one of which I closed myself, at home :) ).

Ow. ow. ow. ow. ow. ow. ow. OOOWWW!!! Yikes. Glad you're not hurt too badly. Those were some nasty pic btw. Almost had to dump my bowl of salsa. Heal up soon.

B T D T, bin there, dun that, Hope for fast healing

I took my pregnant wife to a creek landing for a picinic and some swimming. at lunch sat down in a lawn chair, I was peeling and cutting up an apple with a small rapala fillet knife for us to eat. I slipped and dropped the apple but I reached dwin and caught it, but cut the inside of my right thighonly about 3/4 deep and 1 1/2 inches long. my wife was so do we need to go to the ER? no I said. heaed for the house in a small town we went through there was a Dollar General store, we got some large bandaids to cover it up. that night I pulled off the bandage to check it and it pulled off more skin and hurt more then the knife cut. so alway buy the good bandaids. it was one of those cuts you look at and say it don't hurt yet and is such a clean cut it didn't even start to bleed for a few minutes then it leaked pretty good . hope everything works out great. Pat

Ouch!

All in all. I've still got to say that a convex grind is my fav. I'll stick to my TUSK for a while. Won't be chopping with that

Holy Cow... Sounds like your First Aid training kicked in. We need to remember that sometimes the First Aid training is just as important (and sometimes synonymous) as Wilderness Training!!

Glad you're gonna be OK!!!

Ouch! Are those self-dissolving stitches?

I think we've all done something like this at some point or another. Back in me mall ninja days....
