Ok it is definitely time for all of us to move on, please. New page, new topics. If anyone feels tempted to say something harsh, just look into the eyes of this pup, relax, and let it go. Otherwise he might convince me to give up on GEC and return to Case, where you do not have to go through this baloney to buy a knife.

How is it terrible. I apologized. And then I get attacked. Even when Mike said everything was cool. Why keep on attacking me. Should I not defend myself? I get called an ass after I took responsibility. Why do you have to attack?

Maybe because of this post :

What a scam!! There were at least 5 minutes left and he closed the early reserve . Done with this! He pumped this thing up for a month and got everyone all jacked up about speculation on how he was going to do this and now he closes it early saying his clock said it was 5 and said my clock could be wrong. Haha. I had to to explain to him that it was closed and he couldn't follow me. Haha. My cell is off atomic time. Oh well.

OK, this has turned out to be way more expensive and time consuming that I am interested. After this run of #77's is gone I am thinking about some other solutions and want input.

A) Add them to the Early Reserve System unannounced and hope the server doesn't crash
B) Make 500 of the same knife in addition to letter A
C) Put them on eBay with a buy it now that has 15% built in to cover the extra costs
D) Any other option that is less work and people won't show up and beat me with a stick

I have been cussed like a dog by several customers aggravated that they are 0-2 via emails. Personally if that is what they have in their heart they can go, but I don't want to aggravate others in the future.

Ok, I'll take them all off your hands on consignment and find a way to fairly distribute the knives. You'll be finally able to sleep soundly! Sorry, my poor attempt at levity.

I worked sales and retail supply for a good chunk and the customer is never happy. It's even tougher when you care about the product. I do have sympathy, don't take it on the chin so much...I think most of us are ok with how you're doing this.

Right but I said sorry. Is it common to attack when someone says sorry. And really, I called him at 6:58 my time after I tried the lottery at 6:55 EST Which is 5:55 CST so it should have still been open. Correct. I am not sure what Mike's Timestamp uses but I was going by my cell which is atomic time. Exact time. So I could not understand why it was closed. When I called him, everything was cool and I explained and he said it was not closed and I told him I tried and there was a red rectangle with red words saying the submissions were closed. So by closing it 5 minutes early on my cell time I thought was not fair. As Mike said, I did call him at 6:02 his time but that was after 7 minutes of trying to figure out why it was closed. He even did not see that it was closed until I explained.
Still, I should not have gotten that upset. If he does it by his clock then that is how he does it. I should have gone on earlier to compensate different clock time. I stand behind the time issue. I should have been able to get in the lottery in all fairness, but I should have not gotten huffy. I stood up and was a man about it and said sorry publicly to him, even though I feel I should have been able to enter my name since it was not 6 cst. He accepted. And then everyone comes down on me even after a sorry. Then I get name called and I fight back and I almost get taken down. Fair??

I'm not sure what your best route is but I do wonder why, if you know they'll sell why not have more made if that's an option?

Sigh.

Sell your knives however you want Mike. It’s your business and it’s always evident when you can’t please everyone. No sense in trying because you’ll catch flak every time.

Along with selling the knives how you want, tell the ungratefuls to take a break for a bit. Maybe they can try again later.

you might want to tell all this too. I am still getting comments back at me. If we should stop then all need to move on.

Sigh- It's not up for debate; Let's get back to the topic at hand.

It's not. This is the first run I have talked them into since 2016 - and they only make 500 piece SFO runs.
I see. I think no matter how you slice it. These knives due to their collectivity, low retail pricing, low production numbers and high secondary market, it's just not feasible for you to please everyone or devise a perfect system where all will be happy. Its obvious to me you care about your customers and would like for everyone who wants one to have one without paying hundreds but that's probably just not realistic. Your putting forth one helluva effort though sir! Thank you!

Figure out a way to just deal with your loyal customers, who wouldn't have cursed you out in the first place.

OK, in respect to those that have reported they entered correctly, received not notifications otherwise, and were not in the certified draw list... It is my fault.

Sadly, I found the problem, and my developer worked overnight on the fix. You submitted your email perfectly, it had nothing to do with anything you did. One of the audits checks to insure that each email address does not have any restrictions in their current Early Reserve System (ERS) account. But you have not actually used the ERS on the new system (since early last year), so you didn't have an account registry in the ERS. Those that had never used the ERS before were not disqualified - they just got dropped from the list of valid emails. This should not have happened, because it was never a requirement that you be a current user of the ERS.

So I have presented each one that responded to me via email as requested, with a heartfelt apology and an opportunity to try and make amends. I will double their entry in the remaining draw of their choice. That is the best I can do at this point.
I've reserved and bought seven knives from you in 2018 - two months. (I don't know if this is a lot or a little in the scheme of things. I'm sure others have bought a lot more.) I don't want to think about how many I've bought since "early last year." Seems liked I'd have had a better shot at the one I wanted if I hadn't used ERS at all, and gotten an extra entry? I guess I just don't get why put in the effort to try to please many people who will not buy another knife from your until the next big run.
A lot of people seem pleased though, so maybe it will earn you a whole bunch of new customers.

I will make this promise...

If I get 2 of these 77 Barlow’s, I will go back through this thread and offer one up to anyone who made a post that made me laugh. I’ll make a list and then randomize the names to be drawn in order.

Newblades will be included!

Aw man, so not only will some people lose out by not winning the lottery, but they also have to suffer the shame of knowing that they aren’t funny when their posts don’t make you laugh.

If it were me I’d wait until it all settles and I wasn’t under the gun so much before I decided on anything.

I wonder if you could raffle the early reserve access? So run the raffle to get the number of names your server can handle and then turn them loose for a password protected early reserve?
