I’m gonna stick with my standby on the red Saw Cut and hope it converts. Good luck to everyone in the consolation drawing!
I am not sure that STANDBY qualifies as getting a RESERVATION . I hope Mike knifeswapper knifeswapper clarifies this , but I would think anybody on STANDBY could enter this 0 for 4 Drawing .
Edited : I see Mike did answer while I was typing . Thank you Mike !!!!

Harry

I am 0-3.5, aka standby on the ironwood. Can you enter the consolidation draw? I just did that?? Wasn’t sure on the rules there and don’t want to be trown out

Given the odds I’m really surprised I got in on the red sawcut—this will be my first 77 barlow! As a guy who doesn’t have the capital to drop $200-$300 on a whim, getting to plan this one out and have an hour to get a chance in was a really nice benefit. I know that for others this system kept them out of what they may have gotten in the past, but it seems that demand is also higher now, so perhaps the odds Wouldn’t have been so different.

I’ll say again what I’ve said before: being in a place where so many fine knives are on display and getting bought up requires one to either have lots of money or an appreciation for other people’s good fortune, because otherwise you’ll be broke or bitter (or maybe both!).

I enjoyed the chance to chatter about this thing while it was happening too—sort of like those festivals with the cow patty on the plot prizes. Unfortunately though, I think Mike ended up being the plot and there were too many steers laying down their pies.

It looks like you will finally get your 77 Barlow with a Clip Blade .. Congrats !!!! I am very happy for you . I wish that everyone could have one . They are very nice IMHO . I think the Old Red Sawcut will be a classic for people who like Barlows . I am very much looking forward to your posting pictures of your very first 77 Barlow my friend .

Thanks Harry! I wish everyone who wanted one could have one too and for a price that isn’t twice the initial cost. Thankfully there are lots of great knives to enjoy while hunting for that one that checks all your boxes.

I've been on the lookout for a TC or a 77 for several months now, specifically 2 blades. I was able to get selected for the Micarta and feel fairly fortunate. It'll be my first GEC so I'm really looking forward to it. I've said before that Micarta wouldn't be my first choice, but beggars can't be choosers. This pattern definitely seems to have a cult following based on what I've seen on this forum the past several months. Anxious to join the cult;)

0-3 of the 3 I entered (I passed on the purple). No hard feelings at all and enjoyed the opportunity to participate and have a chance. Although it sounds like it was a pain in your arse, I think your willingness to try to do the best thing for your customers (as shown by this thread and your prior history) just reflects that you are a class act and a great dealer. No one seems to realize that if you were just out for the profit, having the scalpers quickly pick them up (who I imagine would quickly reserve all 4) would actually net you more money as you wouldn't have to pay individual shipping for each order or deal with the headaches. Clearly, you are trying to do what is best for your customers. Unfortunately, no matter what you do and how hard you try, you can't please everyone :(.

He shoots, he scores! Elderberry success. Thx for offering that consolation draw Mike.

Any of you micarta or Ironwood holders...if you want some berries in your diet, you may have a trading partner here.

I scored an elderberry (in Thursday's draw) That's my third choice of covers, but I'm happy to get one. :) I'm sure there will be lots of trading going on.

I want to thank Mike once again (and I swear I'd be thanking him even if I'd missed out) for doing his best to make things as easy and fair as possible. I know you can't please everyone, but you have pleased a lot of folks.

I got the email from Mike this morning and I was a perfect 0 for 5 :). It was just not in the books for me to get these. I have plenary of other knives to hold me over.

Still, I do think this was better than the mad rush/all gone in 30 sec process. I know Mike put a lot of expense, time, and effort into this and wanted to let him know that IMO it was greatly appreciated even from the prospective of someone that did not score.

BRAVO MIKE!!
