Is there a trick to finding which Case models come in CV? Google does not help very much.

Better than the search I provided, Peter. Good one.

Case needs to increase the amount of models available in CV.

Perhaps we should send an E-petition to them! More CV peanuts.

Jackknife, I've already asked Tony Bose to see if he could throw his considerable influence behind our desire for more CV knives. He told me that he'd like to see them as well and I believe he may bring it up with them.

Unfortunately, Tony stated that CV sales are only about 5% of Case's sales.

My thought is that that number would go up if they offered more models and scale materials in CV. The low percentage may only be a reflection that some folks don't want yellow delrin, that particular red bone or amber bone.

Anyway, time will tell.

Lets make a list :D

peanuts, definetly more stockman patterns, a congress (they dont offer a single one ), a whittler(no CV as well) TO BE CONTINUED :p

They did offer a CV congress in the past. I have a yellow delrin version. It is a great knife and I use it primarily for whittling projects.

I had the same purpose in mind as well, I might try e-bay. For now my pen knife has to do.

I think that's probably accurate. If only 5% of Case models are available in CV then it would be logical for 5% of Case sales to be CV.

* Few patterns are available in CV at all. No Barlow. No swing guard. No Eisenhower.
And, amazing and sad, not one single hunting knife is available in CV (I really like those stacked leather models).

* The handle material selection is very limited; the most common seems to be the yellow plastic handles (blechh!). The red bone and amber bone aren't bad, but once you have a couple of each it's a dead end. The lack of any "pocketworn" handles is a significant omission.

* None of the 'special' shields or limited editions are available in CV. The red shield, the C Platt knives, the "Long Tail C", the Blue Scroll / Red Scroll, the Circle C, Crandall Cutlery, etc., etc. are all available in stainless only.

Thanks for the opportunity to rant...

See if he'd sell them on the idea of creating a custom shop along the lines of what Buck offers. Seems like it'd be a no brainer.

Yeah they really need to make a barlow in CV. I think a copy of the small single blade Russel barlow would be a big winner.

Oh no, please don't do that!

It would mean I may be able to get a pearl peanut with damascus, or a stag barlow in CV, or a...

I can see me ending up in the homeless shelter with a vacant look in my eyes, repeating over and over "I just know why the credit card company took my house...":D

+100

The selection is extremely limited. I'd buy yellow bone, but not yellow plastic. I'd prefer to have fewer knives that were higher quality.

The red and amber are terrific, but not much variety in either line and I wish the red were darker. I'd love to scoop up peanuts, tuxedos, Eisenhowers and other patterns in CV--stag, mammoth, even the regular knife scales would be great.

I love steel that patinas--and 1095 is readily available from other makers so we have alternatives since Case isn't the only game in town. I'd just like more Case CV offered so that I could have CV and be able to pick up some of the Case patterns--they have many patterns and they tend to do them well.

Afterthought:

Heck, I'd love to see the Bose-Case collaborations offered in CV. Stag would look incredible next to patina-ed CV in Tony's designs! Maybe change starts at the top, not the bottom of Case's offerings?

Oh, you can be sure I've already discussed THAT particular matter with Tony. ;)

Robb, I wouldn't get my hopes up but I will try to do some research on this myself and reach out to Case tomorrow. It's the least I can do on behalf of all of us CV junkies.

I've sent an email off to Tony Bose outlining some thoughts and asking him for a point of contact I can reach out to. (As I mentioned, we've had discussions on this topic before but I'm going to see if I can escalate it to the next level.)

I'll report back to the forum once I have some info.
