How to find Case CV blades

What Case may do that would really help is to promote CV, particularly in the South, as carbon steel. I know many an old timer who would carry nothing less, and is forced to other brands since they don't know what CV is.

If more people were educated about the virtues of high-carbon steel, and knew that CV was in fact high-carbon steel, sales would escalate.

Yeah, I've long said that Case ought to do a lot better job educating consumers about their carbon steel/CV offerings -- even if hardcore Case loyalists didn't always take kindly to the constructive criticism.

mnblade,

I forgot to bring up the "custom shop" idea yesterday with all that was going on so I just sent off a message and will get back to you as soon as I get a reply.

I knew there was something that I forgot to check off my list yesterday.

Neeman,

I'd check the W.R. Case website for their contact info. Out of respect for Tony Bose who provided me with the point of contact and the gentleman himself, I'm not going to post his info here so that he gets inundated with emails or phone calls.

Best to go through their website or switchboard and allow them to take appropriate steps to ensure that those who need to know are notified.

I hope you understand my reasoning with this.

Quite understand.

I just sent an email to consumer-relations@wrcase.com asking for more knives in CV.

A quote from Shirley Boser of Case from that thread
Our internet has been stuck on "due slow" this week and I haven't been able to respond to this thread until now.

When this thread started, and the need was expressed for more information on our CV knives on our website, I forwarded this to our PR/Consumer Relations Manager, Fred Freightner. He has since contacted our Web Master, Tim with your suggestions. They will be looking at doing something along this line when they update the website with the 2008 new products. Thank you for this good suggestion.

While it's not feasible to manufacture all of our patterns in CV, we have a nice line of CV products to offer our consumers. With a direct link to the CV products on the website, it would be easier for our consumers to see the line of products we do offer.

Also, don't forget The Case Collectors Club sends all of the club members an updated catalog every year for their use.

So PR/Consumer Relations Manager, Fred Freightner would be a good contact person for us

One problem is that Case managment today looks at Case as a manufacturer of "collectibles" not a manufacturer of "knives". All Case literature, catalogs, newsletters, etc, none of it ever mentions or promotes their knives as "users"...so they probably see no point in promoting CV.

Personally, I would buy current Case pocket knives as users if they made a line of knives with the following features:

- CV blades

- a "traditional" bone color - antique brown, honey, dark red, etc.

- Pocket Worn finishing

- decent blade stock thickness and backsprings

- shields that clearly display the CASE logo (minor one but nice to have)...I really do not like the current shields.

AND....keep the same line in production every year (add new patterns but dont change the whole lineup)...that way we knife nuts know that we can always get a replacement for our favorite knife, or buy more as gifts. As it is now, Case seems to change their whole line over every two years or so.

Knifeaholic got it right. Why they would not offer the 6347 with CV blades is beyond me, since, as far as working knives go, the standard 4" stockman is one of the most popular patterns around. If they offered it with CV blades, normal bone, and the old style shield, I would buy a couple as soon as they were available.

I specifically brought the 6347 up with Case as an example needing to be addressed during my discussion.
