How would you design a new Becker?

All I want is an extra quarter to half an inch on the handles. My hand is just a little too broad to be comfortable with the present handle and I absolutely love the knives.
I'm feeling your pain, especially on the tweener handles.

I'm quite surprised Ethan hasn't came out with a 1/4 in. thick knife similar to the 9,
I REALLY want a eskabar or necker with clip point blade, i know he likes his classic drop point but i find the point on the necker to be really broad and blunt. i just want one with a more acute tip:)

Here is my 2 cent contribution- I would like to see another necker design. The current 11 and 14 are relatively similar, I would like to see something of similar overall length but with a finer point.

I'd like to see a becker version of an ulu. Maybe designed specifically to be lashed to a make-shift pole as an axe.

I really like how versatile the ulu design is and its less weight than an axe. A rounded design not the more rectangle modern versions.

I'd also love to see a becker version of a smachet.

I designed a "snatchet" version some time ago, but I kind of want to have it made, so I never posted it.

I want one with bigger handles so you can store bacon in one side, and TackleF(...) Forge Jerky in the other.

Wow,

Some impressive image editing skills here... I really feel humble with my pathetic attempt, I think it would have been easier to carve a model out of wood and take a picture, but here goes. I think a BK5/BK15 blade scaled to a BK14 grip, thinned a little with a little more blade sweep and a little up angle from the grip and no swege. I think the extra sweep and up angle would help compensate for the size reduction, and still leave this as a very usable all purpose field and slicer blade.

Not sure if the picture will show, but here goes...

Interesting idea you got going... Not sure what I would use this for.

It's actually a "Beckerized" version of a custom knife made by a local bladesmith who passed last spring. I've carried Dan Kendrick's version of this knife as a neck (and sometimes belt) knife for almost 10 years now. It is sort of a jack of all trades design. It's ok for field dressing, if you're a wrist skinner you can choke up on the blade where there's enough curve to skin with, and because of the curve its a good slicer for camp food prep. When pressed, if you have to bone a large animal... don't the big ones always expire in some dark crevasse in a deep canyon... it'll work as a boning knife. When pressed, you can even cape with it. And last but not least it'll hold its own with pretty much any small neck knife as a bush/field/woods crafting knife. Granted for many of these uses, its not perfect, but it is a reasonable compromise.

My reason for wanting to see it in production is purely selfish I'd like to replace the knife Dan made me, I never worried about babying that blade, but now that I can no longer just have Dan make me a new one, I'd like to have something similar and just put the Kendrick blade in the safe.

More on the bk14/bk15 hybrid, I meant to get rid of the choil, or just leave a really small one to leave a gap for sharpening.

So more like this:

Just spent the lunch hour getting through half the Becker Knife Ideas thread. Lots of creativity there, though from what I've seen the Magnum Necker and BKBush are the ones I find interesting. On the Magnum Necker, I'd remove the swedge, add some jimping, reduce the guard, give it a and give it a little more choil (sort of a miniature of the BK16's). I'd want a FFG, and it would be at least as thick as the tweeners. The BK Bush on the other hand I wouldn't change at all... well maybe the color of the scales, anyway, that one I'd definitely buy, along with the Magnum Necker. I wonder if these would ever happen, dang it, tonight I'm going to have to pull the scales from my BK16 and see how much the grip could be reduced... maybe a BK15 could be ground into a Magnum Necker.
