How would you design a new Becker?

freeborn, its the bush moose not bk-bush

and is this ok?

Bush Moose it is, and in my mind it's a winner... both the knife and the name, though I wonder if it wouldn't scuttle BK2 sales.

John, wow, you are fast when you play with pixels aren't you? :) Beautiful work by the way! Yes to ditching the swedge. No, I honestly really don't like the upper ramp/guard thing, maybe its that I spend more time cutting with a french chef's style blade than any other, but a very common hold for me, is to grip the blade itself between my thumb and fore finger, with the second joint or third segment of the finger across the spine of the blade, any blade with such an upper guard would really have to appeal to me, because I know I'd have to grind/file it off immediately. Other than tacticool/fool (and this is my opinion, so take it for what its worth...) the point of the upper guard thing on these knives totally mystifies me. I definitely prefer the original upper blade contour, minus the swedge, but with some jimping, probably from the edge of the scale, out to about 3/4~1" over the edge. I like a little choil, just enough to keep from bumping a sharpening stones edge with the lower guard when sharpening. And I really like a lot smaller lower guard, ideally pretty much even with the edge, so that it doesn't interfere with using the whole blade on a cutting board, a big lower guard acts like a teeter totter, and makes a portion of the edge useless.

Only problem I see with the magnum neckers is that the regular blade size for neckers is perfect for edc because it is legal most everywhere to carry. I am going to modify a 14 into a persian style blade, because I love persians, and nobody has done it:D SilentJohn came up with this mockup for me in his other thread

It's not exactly how it will be, the actual knife will have a thicker tip area and hopefully more belly. But he hit it close to the money.

I can see the usefulness of the persian, especially if the tip area doesn't get too thin/weak, if I can't have the Magnum Necker (my way... ;) ) it wouldn't take much to convince me to try your persian blade.

Since concealed carry of fixed blades is verboten here, and open carry is generally (though with a few local exceptions) allowed regardless of blade length, I hadn't considered length to be a criteria, though I suppose it would be a marketing issue in most areas. I would like the Magnum Necker to be longer than the 11/14/13 blades, but scaled down from the 15. I guess my use would be field carry, camping, and some kitchen work. Funny how our society has decided that a steak or cheese knife in the pocket is at least a misdemeanor... :(

Here's a pic of the knife I'm currently using as a Magnum Necker, with a BK16 in the background for comparison. FWIW, I think I'd prefer the Fisk blade shape.

This is something I've been hoping for! Love my BK2, but a thinner version would be a welcome addition to the family.

Aren't you describing Doug Ritter's Mk2 Perseverance (BK12)? I've always liked the blade shape of the BK2. When Doug Ritter came out with his Mk2 I was sold!!

As much as I like messing around with the carbon steel, give us the option of a decent stainless in all the models. I want a stainless bk5 (bk25?). I love how 1095 looks and sharpens, but I can taste it in the raw food. Keep the bk2 just the way it is.

I looked at the process on that blade! It is amazing! Only one problem, its 275 dollars. Haha. But it would be amazing to have one like that.
