http://www.knifetests.com/ not kind to BK9 Knife

The odd thing about the whole "Noss paradigm" is that the folks here do SO much to keep him alive and on this forum.

I don't see the avid interest, good or bad, anywhere else on the internet in his "tests". I don't see the critiquing and commentary on his work anywhere else roll into a hundred or more posts anywhere else.

He has you guys snake-charmed, and right where he wants you. As they say in the sales game, " I don't care what you call me, just call me!"

How many people have you guys sent to his site, if for no other reason than to see what all the back biting, pissed off, and self righteous servings of personal opinion are all about? Noss couldn't buy the kind of exposure you guys give him.

Someone says "NOSS!!" and you guys run for the keyboards to say the same things over and over and over and over.

SURELY.... there is more, and less hashed material somewhere on this site or the internet to revisit, rehash and criticize.

But, go ahead - keep at it. It will keep promoting his site for him, directing more than ever site. And that will give him more time for "knifetests". Good on you guys!

Ohhh, I think its a bit late to attempt to play that card. Unless, of course, you feel comfortable copping to some kind of blatant double standard concerning the issue. :o

well, as it happens, *I* get to play the last card...

don't make me take the ball and go home now.:eek::eek:

i myself don't object to impartial and fair reviews. even slightly slanted ones, but no name calling, nitpicking, or semantic bullying - i hates that ;) :foot:

play nice, share, eat your cookie, drink your milk, and for Grue's sake, take a nap...:cool::cool:

I guess i was raised with better values than todays "Jackass types" & "hey look at me i'm breaking stuff" internet crowd.

My grandfather and father taught me to respect the tools we work with, and that properly used and cared for tools will last forever.

I honestly have NO RESPECT for anyone that misuses, breaks, or abuses tools, and has the gall to put up their childish antics for all to see. As far as I'm concerned they are on par with chicken hawks (aka child m..............s)

Actually, no. The biggest collection of Beckers I know of belongs to Bladite.
I've thinned that herd in the picture a bit, but I do still have users in every model that Ethan produced.

Response to response: Bladite, if you edit my posts to insert a response without any indication, it gets kind of confusing for the reader. Even I was scratching my head for a minute and saying, "Did I write that?" I re-edited for clarity. The only reason I've seen moderators edit posts at BFC is to remove offensive material.

Now if you'd like to send me a proto or three.... :D

.

oh, and accidental bad mod powers there ;) my bad... i hit EDIT instead of QUOTE/Reply... didn't catch that :) i'd fix it, but let's keep me honest...

yeah, protos... those happens :> sometimes. :D

I'm hoping this actually veers back to BECKER knives... soon :) 100+ posts, and nary a word about Becker, testing, and testing that doesn't involve a vise? you know, the Man hates vises for testing. that ain't no kind of testing.

if y'all just wanna go meta and discuss Noss, there's this nearly 1000 post thread...

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=693866&page=22

 Strength and toughness are not attributes that everyone values equally. I don't see how that justifies an arbitrarily elitist and derogatory attitude on your part. Its really a poor way to portray knife enthusiasts.

You're right. Tonight, I tested one of my Neckers against some corned beef and cabbage. Now *that* was a test.

ooh, i'm glad i'm upwind of you tonite ;)

good test! the Man likes tests that involve FOOD (go figure, right?)

NB - the Man can of course, speak for himself, except when he calls to tell me he's in AZ and to watch you guys CLOSELY ;)

maybe i was a bit harsh in my previous post.

doesn't change my views on proper tool usage and care though.

Mmmm... corned beef! Maybe when St. Patty's day rolls around and I make some corned beef I'll use my BK2 to cut it!

Man, I'd post a picture of my BK2 here, but rumor on the web is that Photobucket has got some scum bag's virus infecting computers from ads. If I wasn't too lazy, I'd make another account somewhere, but I don't feel like it right now.

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING. OF ALL THE HYSTERICAL HYPERBOLE...

You honestly think that someone that breaks tools for their own amusement is the same as a child molester?

Really? A guy that breaks his own knife is the same to you as a child molestor?

The de facto understanding is that those who are amused or think that some of his tests are useful are of the same ilk.

Good for you Bushy that you put that up before Esav gets here. He'll bounce you again. You really seem on a roll lately.

What a great reason to unsubscribe from this thread.

It went from ridiculous to disgusting.

if it's not about Becker, please take it elsewhere... last chance...

I've done some serious battoning through dried oak with my BK9 on several camping trips. I strike it with another stick of oak about a foot long and three inches in diameter, not a hammer. The knife has lost some of the black finish off the blade, but has no damage. This is probably the hardest task I forsee myself using it for. Since my last wood splitting session, I've resharpened it myself and it will chop clean through a 2 liter soda bottle full of water. What more could I ask for for 70 bucks?
