I was just responding to your statement above, which I misunderstood. I have NO experience or expertise in sterilizing animals of any kind and did not or do not intend to be argumentative.

I had always been under the common impression that the spey blade on a stockman was for spaying cattle. I responded to the OP with my thoughts on why a spey blade might be hump-backed. I couldn't figure how castrating cattle even got into the discussion.

It's just that (part of) my post keeps getting quoted to prove a point.
Not a problem other than the quote is being taken out of context and I just wanted to clarify things.

I was saying that spaying female bovine is not routinely done with a pocket knife.

Ah, yes, I was talking past your point.... totally missed that you were talking about sterilizing females (which means I am not reading to carefully!!! As spey totally means what you are talking about....not what I was going on about) sorry about that.
