Getting some buck use in OR. One I made for the daughter in law's father.

Had two 6x6s in the horse pasture when I was feeding Tue morning. Could of killed em with a rock. They just didn't care. Never did bolt just calmly walked off. Big for around here, we kinda got a hybrid blacktail/muley thing they say. Good luck tmd_87!

Wow!!! Thanks! The ranch I am hunting has produced some monster "Blacktails" my buddy shot a 29 inch wide monster two years ago. And a crazy 7x11 3 years ago. Gonna go out tomorrow morning and try and catch him on the right side of the fence!

It’s the second to last day of our early in-line season and the freezer is empty, the squirrels down in the hollow are trying to convince me that they can take the deers place in the ice chest.

With my Bladeforums Stag by my side to do some twig whittling, I’ll see if I can’t punch a tag tonight.

Great post!!! Had some weather come into northern California yesterday I have a good feeling about this weekends hunts for me.

Rough weekend out hunting....saw tons of doe and even a couple fawn. I passed on a small fork and horn buck. He is young buck and gave him a pass, wouldn't mind letting him grow. There is a giant buck that has been spotted multiple times in the past week. Of course I haven't had a shot on him.

Scouting, I found where an enormous black bear is coming onto my buddies ranch. I set up my game cam and hopefully can get some pictures of him/her. With a week left in the season my odds are dwindling.

Since we have a "Fishin with your Traditional Knife" thread, I thought I'd start one for hunting:)
So post em if you got em!

I actually had this #23 in bubinga in my pocket for both of these hunts.

Great photos (as always), Dave!

I almost asked about the significance of the 194 on the bolster... then I went back and actually read your post, rather than just admiring the photos! :D

Very nice. I found the goat in the zoomed out pick. Did it roll down into the boulder field, or is that where you spotted it? Beautiful and meaningful knives as well.

Thanks Barrett and Rockon. That's where the goat was spotted. Customer (the guide) supplied pic. Wish I had a better pic of the knife, its an old Green River boning knife that he had me put a bolster and handle on and build the sheath for.

LOL, that’s funny Dave. My girlfriend isn’t a hunter (or a meat eater) but to make it fun when I’m out in the woods, I’ll send her pics of hidden deer and ask her to try and find them. Gives us both a laugh and she appreciates the pics of wildlife.

Hunters; I already have a doe in the freezer but no pics with the Bob Dozier (handmade) Loveless DPH I used. Here’s a recap from last year though! Hunting in the exact same spot too.

Well, harvested a beautiful California Blacktail buck this morning on my buddies ranch. I am extremely great full for the meat this buck will provide. Also, the memories that were made with friends and family. It was a weird season with extreme temperature changes and little to no precipitation. With a day and a half of hunting left I wasn't going to be stingy.

The buck dressed out at 92 pounds not a monster by any means but will be good eatin!!!! Got the heart in the fridge!!! Onions garlic and bacon grease all fried up gonna be good!!!

Also big thanks to @jwh720 for the great hunting partner. The #72 handled it's own this year!

You can’t be picky when the freezer is empty! Congrats on a great trophy and a safe and successful season!

That rifle looks similar to a Reminging 721??
How did you like the #72 for field dressing duties? I haven’t used mine on deer yet, but I can’t imagine there would be any complaints.
