Huntin with your Traditional Knives

You can’t be picky when the freezer is empty! Congrats on a great trophy and a safe and successful season!

That rifle looks similar to a Reminging 721??
How did you like the #72 for field dressing duties? I haven’t used mine on deer yet, but I can’t imagine there would be any complaints.

Yup I completely agree. Plus antlers make hard soup. LOL

The 72 did great, had to strop it a couple times and hit it on my lansky after but really good! I used my 72 and my outdoor edge folding knife with the replacement blades. That's also a work horse for skinning and gutting duties.

Close! It's a Remington model 788 in .308 passed down to me from my dad. It's a great shooter and has some miles on it. I just replaced the scope on it a nice 3-9 Nikon off of one of my other rifles that I upgraded the optics on.

I’ve used a Nikon Pro Staff 3x9 for years. Nikon makes a great scope.

Shortly after posting my picture, my beautiful wife called me on her lunch break, just as we were finishing our conversation I caught some movement. Bouncing along the creek was a medium sized grey, he ran across the last remaining board of a bridge twice as old as I am and settled on the tree just at the end of the far bolster of my window pic.

The crosshairs of the old Weaver K-4 found the perked ears of this grey as he was hauling a black walnut up the tree.

The #66 stockman has proved to be the perfect woods companion since I’ve owned it. Cleaning game with it is such a joy. That Spey blade was perfect for skinning!

First snow of the season! Saw one small buck early in the morning, then had 3 does come and decide I must make good company so they laid down and napped for an hour at 35 yrds. I love hunting from the ground! Winds started picking up and all the wildlife hunkered down so I bailed.

Carried my new Loveless style Semi-Skinner made by Elton Misner (154CM, black linen micarta & red liners).

I haven't been around the traditional forum for a while, good to see the hunters back in the woods this fall. Been a bit warm here, but we have been out a couple of times; my buddy Billy shot this one a week ago - we cleaned it with our Buck 118 fixed blades. OH

I am just about to give up on putting photos on the internet - my hosting site (Hunt101) is dysfunctional and there is no way to rotate a picture here either. OH

Here you go, my friend.;)

It's been great to see everyones hunts again this season. We've just finished hunting Sambar deer for this year.

I often keep in practice with my fieldcraft by stalking rabbits with a .22 springer air rifle in the off season. Had a frustrating day yesterday shooting paper when I took the Weihrauch HW97K out to check zero. This rifle is usually an accuracy machine, if I do my bit right. Springer air rifles can be so finicky to different influences, I ended up putting it away. I'll come back to it fresh in a day or two, after thinking over what the issue might be.

Anyway, this is the valley near me where I've enjoyed many rabbit and fox hunts over the years - mostly on the far side of the valley on the right hand side of this photo.

Wind wasn’t right for one of my normal spots yesterday so I took the long way in. Saw 2 small bucks, about 15 minutes apart, running a trail with their noses to the ground so I decided to set up and see what else came through. 3 hours later, nothing!

Carried my stag Mamoru Shigeno Loveless style DPH.

Tongueriver - I've never had pronghorn, how do you prepare it? I hear that they can be a bit on the gamey side.
